“It’s OK to work for a dream, and it’s OK to cry and lament when that dream is deferred….when injustice runs amuck, we are teaching them to know that they are not alone. There will always be people who will clasp arms with them and collectively refuse.” theemancipator.org/2024/11/16/t...

I’m still trying to figure out how Bluesky works. How do people amass followers? Not that I have anything that particularly interesting to say…

Yup, 100%

If you wouldn’t trust a rando with zero experience or credentials to pilot a plane just because they’ve watched YouTube videos and “done their research,” you probably shouldn’t trust them for medical or public health advice either.

Elected officials are chosen by the people who vote. Not voting or protest voting signals that our apathy or principles are more important than the actual outcome, our democracy, or the rights of other Americans. That to me is problematic, regardless of whether these actions impacted the election.

Putting an anti-vaxxer like RFK Jr. in charge of public health is like putting a flat earther in charge of NASA and space exploration.

Putting an anti-vaxxer in charge of public health is like putting a sexual predator in charge of criminal justice Oh wait, Like putting a Russian agent in charge of national security 🤔 ….. Ok, how about putting the Taliban in charge of TSA? Now, I’m pretty sure that one hasn’t happened yet.

If this happened, honestly it wouldn’t surprise me.

When I was younger, 4 years felt expendable, like a blip in time. Now that I am older, 4 years feels like a lot of life. Short term goals are everything. So instead of despairing about the next 4 years, I am going to focus on the next 2 years and believe that we can turn a new page at midterms.

Joined today and already loving this community. Glad to say goodbye to the cesspool but we still need a strategy to fight the disinformation that gets disseminated there and on other platforms. We can’t win elections when a large swathe of the electorate believes up is down and down is up.
