Ubisoft open world games are the definition of AAA bloat. AC Shadows has 3 tutorials for the same thing. "Quests" can literally be "there's generic bandits all around the map, kill them cause they're bad" Beyond sight seeing, in Ancient Japan, Star Wars, etc., I'm not sure what these games offer.

Meta's AI chatbots can and will do sexual roleplay with accounts labeled as minors. Good to know this AI is trained on authentic social media data.

I need Microsoft to fund the Skyblivion remake to be remastered/available through the UE5 Oblivion remaster. All that work by the Skyblivion team could be enjoyed by console players and people that only buy the remaster, no modding required. It'd likely fund itself through more remaster purchases.

*Tries ChatGPT search in desperation over how bad Google has gotten ... *Gives up ChatGPT search immediately after one fantastically useless answer that wasn't what was asked at all

Switch 2 emulates Switch 1, Nintendo cloned Yuzu's git then sued them into oblivion. Didn't even do it for a good reason, could've bought Krakan Point dies cheaper, had a better battery life and easier job of third party ports. Instead they bought an old Nvidia SOC that's way out of tdp range.

Nintendo making a bog standard sequel console that's more expensive with less battery life 🤨

Weta, ChatGPT asked to do this frame in the style of Studio Ghibli, and actual Studio Ghibli. 🤔

Atomfall is neat mashup of Fallout, Bioshock, and Stalker in 50's UK. But from the visuals to the scope to the gameplay it doesn't totally have the budget to keep up with it's own ambition. I do hope it's successfull enough for the devs for a more polished sequel.

Inzoi, #1 on Steam in early access, could've been EA, all they had to do was make The Sims 5 exactly what everyone expected it to be and it would've been printing money. Not making a sequel to one of the most successful franchises of all time for over a decade is baffling.

Assassin's Creed Shadows has past a million players in a day. The "controversy", a real historical figure in the game that's black, didn't matter at all. Media, social or otherwise, has the the power to create an ur reality that doesn't necessarily have any relation to what's outside your window

"Thinner" phones like the upcoming Galaxy Edge (pictured) are kinda neat, but I need them to be light too. I don't need a phone to be heavy, I need one as light as a feather and hard as dragon scales. Make it so I can't even feel it in my pocket, that'd make me interested

If I were a technologically advanced alien I wouldn't bother contacting humans. Who would look at a neighbor that wrecks their own house, has a habit of shooting at each other, and decides "hey I should invite them over to dinner"?

Who is Oscar, why is he so small and shiny, why do so many celebrities cry over him?

Capcom is charging players to redo character creation in the latest Monster Hunter. Story time!

Silicon Valley is spending a trillion dollars and more on "AI" data centers in the hopes it will generate a return "someday" for that amount of money we could have commercialized fusion power plants running a large amount of the world next decade

"Prediction" (basically a fact): 90% usage of all current cloud based AI tools will transition to local compute over time. Because this is what always happens when "compute it far away" comes up as an idea. Which has been happening for over 30 years now.

US: CEO shuts down project because it's not a well known IP, drives out studio talent, then shuts down studio after well known IP isn't a good game because half the talent left. Japan: CEO gambles hundreds of millions on unproven live service games. Games aren't good. CEO gets fired.

Having a blast with Avowed, exploring a well constructed world full of things to find just by wandering around is rare enough despite the apparent popularity of such. It doesn't do anything brilliant or super original or etc. But it does accomplish what it sets out to do quite well.

Avowed is just so pleasingly polished. The combat animations are so clear and telegraphed. The UI needs to be stolen by every console/controller UI from here on. The visuals are detailed and readable at the same time. No bugs, no visible shader compiling outside the start, just a 10/10 all round.

Recent game mini reviews: FFVII Rebirth: Moments of brilliance next to fun ARPG next to monotony. All over the place. Eternal Strands: cool BotW systemic combat, but one note, wish there was something to break it up.

Civ VII wipes your progress including all units, most buildings, and most everything else twice a playthrough in exchange for "points". There's an incredibly long history of game design trying to balance snowballing and challenge. No one has ever done the above, because it sounds stupid, and it is.

Seeing Spiderman 2 on someone's 5090 makes me appreciate that recent advancements in visuals are covered up by poor image quality, as I can clearly see room for improvement with clean enough pixels. Maybe upscaling for performance isn't much of a win if you can't appreciate the visual upgrade.

"ARPG so detailed and in such an over the top fantasy world its hard to relate to" is this console gens overuse of bloom
