How is community ownership of #renewables helping local economies to thrive? ⚡️ Join us and @cescotland.bsky.social on Tuesday 1st July to learn how community energy is having a real and positive impact on local, rural economies across Scotland 👇 #CommunityOwned actionnetwork.org/events/real-...

More Palestinian civilians have been murdered by Israeli forces at one of its aid distribution points in Gaza. The systematic slaughter of Palestinians must end — and Israel must be sanctioned.

We're pleased to see President Bola Ahmed Tinubu confer national honours on Ken Saro-Wiwa and the 8 other Ogoni leaders executed in 1995 over their struggles for environmental justice in the Niger Delta. However, a pardon does not right this historic injustice. www.amnesty.org/en/latest/ne...

Have you ever looked out at the wind farm in the Thames Estuary? How does it work; who owns it? What if it were owned by the people? This weekend, join us @EstuaryFestival to celebrate wind power through singing, sailing and a film screening.

💫 LAUNCHING: Archive as Catalyst. We received 162 incredible submissions to our open call, and are really excited to share these experiments in activist and community archives. platformlondon.org/catalyst 👇👇

📢 We have to work collectively to disrupt fossil fuel extraction and genocide. This toolkit was co-produced by a coalition of grassroots groups and allies. Help us share it as widely as we can. ⬇️⬇️

Excellent report on the value of community-owned energy - and the huge gap between potential + reality in Scotland. 💵 We fully agree that UK Gov't should make #communitybenefits mandatory, for a level playing field. 📈 Communities must also have a right to #sharedownership of energy developments.

📣 Brilliant points voiced this week from Sarah Boyack MSP and Patrick Harvie MSP in this week’s Scottish parliament debate on ‘Growing Community-Owned Energy in Scotland’ 👏 Scotland’s energy future must be fair, green, and community-led. #CommunityEnergy #JustTransition #LandReform

In Orkney, council owned wind farms return £5.5M every year to fund public services. We have nothing like this in Ireland. The entire model is geared towards state facilitation of multinational energy companies and investors. ENGOs need to get behind public-commons partnerships.

Important lessons here for Canada as we scale up #renewables.

Less than 1% of renewable energy that became operational in Scotland last year was community owned. This new report and thread shows what we're missing out on

We’ve known community energy punches well above its weight for some time. It’s not just about energy - it’s about wealth, resilience, engagement, power and prosperity. It’s also really popular. It won’t do ‘net zero’ alone, but it has to be a core pillar of any successful, just transition.

"No more crumbs for the corporate table" - a fantastic thread in support of community energy here --->>>

An interesting report, contrasting the community value generated from community versus private ownership.

Need more of this in Australia both for economic justice and for resilience.

🧵 REVEALED: Community energy projects in Scotland are generating 100x more local wealth than privately-owned wind farms. But just 0.5% of the renewable power is community-owned. Why this staggering imbalance?

Last year, the government committed to a landmark Pensions Review - the first opportunity in two decades to overhaul the £3 trillion private pension system. 🤔 So what does this mean for the divestment movement? 👇👇

what oil companies say: "we're investing in the transition to cheaper cleaner energy" what oil companies do:

120+ Mozambican and international civil organisations have written to UKEF and the 30 other public and private financial institutions backing the LNG project with these demands. We support their call. Read the letter here: www.banktrack.org/article/moza...
