More great street food for lunch today at Phloen Chit outdoor market. Great Takoyaki (including vegetarian and chicken options), then some Khanom Krok (coconut milk pancakes - I went for pumpkin flavour, these were the highlight of my lunch), ended with some Puffs (curried chicken was the best)

Some great food at Tha Phra Open Air Market last night. Pad Kaprow was good but nothing beats food on a stick, love the small differences between the spicy sauce at each stall.

A lovely day exploring Bangkok. My daily visit to Lumphini park to stroke to local cats and keep my distance from the monitor lizards. Then enjoyed exploring Hualamphong Temple, devoid of tourists which was a nice touch.

Think I've found my favourite street food cart in Bangkok. First one was like chicken meatballs with a crispy coating, second was a good old fashioned sausage with chilli sauce, lastly was crispy and chewy tofu pieces with possibly spinach and seaweed. Apologies for lack of Thai names.

Great Pad Thai at Thipsamai in Bangkok yesterday. It's served inside an omlette with instructions how to eat it and how to season it yourself with lime, fish sauce, peanuts and chilli powder. Loved the iced coconut drink too

Smoked Vermouth, thick cut crisps, olives, pickled chillies, pickled mussels and lashings of Salsa Espinaler #Zaragoza A real highlight @debbiem6009.bsky.social @lewisy1993.bsky.social @saamsamm.bsky.social

New on the blog - the hugely talented Dave Killick takes centre stage at Pontcanna's Ember, his new project in collaboration with Tommy Heaney #Cardiff gourmetgorro.blogspot.com/2025/03/embe...

A very good evening of eating last night. A delicious crispy pork with morning glory (so good I'm really tempted to have it again tonight), a yellow curry crab & egg stir fry, vanilla soft serve and jelly from Chinese chain MIXUE followed by a Thai Banana Roti with condensed milk.

A lovely day at sea off Pattaya yesterday. Lots of swimming and snorkeling, we visited an island where we had the beach to ourselves, also some fishing (and the lucky fish ended up on the bbq). Ended with some cocktails and watching the sunset #thailand

First night in Thailand and my first ever visit to Pattaya, it's certainly different 😂

A great evening out in #ElTubo ( tapas bar central ) #Zaragoza It was absolutely buzzing. Garlic Mushrooms at El Champi the highlight. Many bars just do 1 tapa and this one certainly doesn't need to do anything else @debbiem6009.bsky.social @lewisy1993.bsky.social @saamsamm.bsky.social

I was feeling a bit sad for my final evening in Hanoi so decided to eat and drink my way through it. Vua khô Bò (Vietnamese style beef jerky) was delicious, followed by one of the best cocktails I've ever had at Leo's Tavern. Then it was time for more spicy street sausage before ending on a Bánh mì

Hien Minh Tea House is another highlight of Hanoi, one of the most serene places I've ever been, I never thought I'd enjoy watching tea being prepared at my table as much as I did. The white lotus tea from the mountains in the north of Vietnam was delicious (there was also a cat)

My first ever Bánh Xèo today, a thin rice flour crepe stuffed with crab and shrimp, it's eaten with herbs and leaves wrapped in rice paper (which you do yourself at the table). Delicious pork & shrimp summer rolls as well as some Green coconut juice. Will definitely be returning to Mr Bảy Miền Tây

Had a fun evening exploring the streets of Hanoi. Started with Pho Ga (Chicken Pho), the stock was just incredible. Then a green papaya salad with air dried beef and peanuts (in a delicious sauce)

Another great day in Vietnam, today exploring Tam Coc to the south of Hanoi. A nice hike up Núi Ngoạ Long, followed by some sight seeing on a jeep.

A lovely day exploring Hanoi followed by some Bún chả at Bún chả Hương Liên (the place made famous by Bourdain and Obama) Food was excellent in all fairness, Americans outnumbered non-Americans so will definitely be taking my noise cancelling headphones next time

An excellent first 12 hours in Hanoi (7 of those were sleeping) Some sausage and chicken from street food carts, breakfast was a delicious plate of fruit and a beef Pho that I put far too many chillis in

A very impressive meal with Qatar Airways between Doha and Hanoi. Coconut and Lemongrass soup, Black Cod with Chu Chee sauce, cheese selection and an ice cream sundae. I won't even start going on about the champagne and wine list

'Hidden gem' has essentially lost all meaning now, yet occasionally you find somewhere doing good things with no fanfare and in unlikely surroundings. Which brings us here, to Grangetown's Sai La Vie, and Dhamaal Kitchen. Have a read. www.theplatelickedclean.co.uk/dhamaal-kitc...

My Feb tinned fish highlights. Sardines 'Xoubas' (fried with tomatoes & peppers) by Ramón Peña, Horse Mackerel in Brava sauce by ABC+, Curried Tuna belly (my new favourite tinned tuna) by Real Conservera and lastly delicious and delicate Sardine fillets in EVOO by Sea Sisters in the UK.

Had such a lovely day with friends and family in Cardiff, ended it with some fantastic Vermut, Rioja and tapas at one of my favourite places, Curado Bar.

Awaiting an intervention as I empty the Saucepan drawer and fill it with tinned fish
