The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

If you’re an elected representative and need a SWAT team at your town hall, you’re doing something wrong.

For the US to side with Russia and North Korea to oppose a UN resolution condemning the illegal invasion of Ukraine defies all common sense and adds insult to the countless injuries suffered by the brave Ukrainian people. edition.cnn.com/2025/02/24/p...

I love when I give my dog a treat and he’s just like “omg thank you now I’m off to go eat this by myself in another room on the cleanest part of the carpet”

Gonna need people to stop referring to the Eagles as "America's Team." We hate that. That's the Cowboys. You will notice how they are extremely shitty. The Eagles play for the Free City of Philadelphia. They are Philadelphia's Team. Show them some respect and get it right.

Fellow book lovers! There is a better way to buy our books than Amazon. Instead of putting $ in Bezos' pocket, every purchase on @bookshop-org.bsky.social financially supports independent bookstores. You can even select the bookstore you'd like to support.

What I’m thinking, when I think “I wish I could be a full-time writer,” is really, “I wish everyone read so much that all writers could write full-time.”

Brexit: “that great victory for the sovereign right to cock things up”… give ourselves food poisoning, lose control, swamp ourselves in red tape, pay more for stuff and stubbornly isolate ourselves from our own continent… A relentless, ruinous stupidity. (Private Eye)

How much is Congress cutting from their $6.5 billion/year budget? Don’t you think congress can operate on say, maybe, $5 Billion? And each congressman has 18 staff, they could operate on say, 14? What about the White House?

Glacier National Park isn’t just a breathtaking landscape—it’s a living testament to the hard work of federal employees who care for our public lands. From park rangers & forestry crews to dedicated biologists, these individuals ensure that our natural treasures endure for future generations.

This country has seen some bad moments in the 61 years, 5 months, 16 days I’ve been on this Earth. But it has never, ever before come close to the supertoxic level of stupidity, mendacity, narcissism, nihilism, and moral apathy that threaten to destroy it today.

Picture this: It's the year 2079. A 14 year-old is studying world history. They put their hand up in class. "Sir, why was was it called the Department Of Government Efficiency?" We are living in the cringiest universe.

People writing futuristic Dystopian type novels at the moment must be having a hard team keeping up with, let alone staying ahead of current developments. Reality is now more Dystopian than half of what I've read in recent times.

cc: @Gavin Newsome It’s time to build a CDC & NIH in California with the folks who were fired from the feds. In fact, I think each blue state governor needs to scoop up these scientists, healthcare workers and laboratory workers asap. @gavinnewsom.bsky.social

Incompetence in Washington puts every American at risk, no matter how you voted. No one should be happy that the DOGE team - the same folks who randomly published classified U.S. security information online today - wants access to your bank account & Social Security numbers.

📌URGENT: The Associated Press is one of the foremost news operations in the world. Without it, most media entities could not survive. 📌Well, the AP has now been barred from the White House. I'd suggest very strongly that any media that gets its news from AP takes a damn stand here in solidarity.

ATTN HHS EMPLOYEES: Firing notices are going out. I am in receipt of an email saying they will revoke your access as soon as you read the email that you've been fired. Please download everything you need before you open that email. SHARE FAR & WIDE. My latest: www.muellershewrote.com/p/attn-hhs-e...

The Eagles will snub the White House visit. Go Birds 🦅

Forever relevant in the age of social media. Thank you, Wendy Cope.
