I keep seeing a meme attributing a quote about the decline of Western Civilization to Carney, apparently from his book Value(s). I read the book and remember no such thing - So I fact checked it on Snopes. Carney's 2021 book called for a shift from “market values” to “human values.”

“Like many idiots, Trump surrounds himself with sycophants steeped in stupidity. And like many fools, he’s an unwitting tool for those who see, in his inanity, opportunity for their own malevolence.“

Y’all gotta go read books. There’s no way around it. Read books. Form your own opinions. LEARN THINGS. READ BOOKS WHILE LIBRARIES ARE STILL AROUND

If you think this can’t happen, remember that of the 125,000 Japanese Americans who were interned during WWII for years without charge or trial, two-thirds were U.S. citizens. Including me.

“This book is about how Canada made its own version of Donald Trump, albeit with fewer guns and less rioting, but with lots of trucks and lies,” writes historian and journalist Mark Bourrie. Michael Harris reviews “Ripper: The Making of Pierre Poilievre.” #cdnpoli #CdnElxn2025

Why I resist US-style health care for Doug Ford's Ontario.

Welcome to Canada. Any other intelligent Americans are welcome as well. Doctors, nurses, scientists etc.

“Yet somehow, 4 Tesla- owned dealerships reported to the Canadian government that they sold an astonishing 8,653 cars during a single weekend in January — enough to qualify for 43 million Canadian dollars’ worth of government subsidies under a program just before it expired.” The Govt’s suspicious.

Yes, tariffs are a tax, but people don't mention often enough that they are a regressive tax. Taxes on consumer goods tax the poor at a higher rate, as basic necessities are a much larger part of their spending. If food goes up by 20%, it is a tax on the poor. Rich people won't even notice.

Travel from Canada is down 74%.....that's huge. We are your number one incoming travellers, visitors, vacations, bachelor/ettes. You blew it. Small Michigan Inns saying they will likely go bankrupt. Nashville suffering. How did you think we would react? He promised to be a dictator and..???? #Idiots

What I especially love is that @meidastouch.com is out ahead of Rogan for podcast top spot. So you know this is giving #elbowsup some traction. Appreciate them giving @charlieangus104.bsky.social some time & attention. It’s a movement taking hold nationally on the cusp of a federal election.

The Tariff Man Is Coming for America’s Entrepreneurs BY ANNIE LOWREY Over the past two months, Stuart and Susan Rosen say they have paid nearly $30,000 in tariffs to the American government.

Hopefully Doug Ford's preoccupation with US tariffs will mean he lays off the City of Toronto's progressive transportation policies. www.theenergymix.com/paris-votes-...

After JD Vance expressed disdain for Europe in a private text chat about the Yemen attack, officials are coming to terms with a vocal vice president whose antipathy for Europe appears to run deep.

It’s time to look out for ourselves and our workers, and stand up for Canada.

4/4 Carney continues to stand by his contention that big banks and business have done too little for too long, and should stop arguing that they need to do too much too soon. Plutocrats was written a decade ago, and the National Post said at the time "This is the book 100% of the 99% should read".

3/4 Dymon was steamed because Carney proposed that the State should guide rule-making. (In 2005, the US had allowed banks to write their own regulatory laws). Dymon did call Carney a few days later to apologize.

2/4 Carney was invited to speak on how Canada, the only G7 country that avoided bailing out its banks in 2008, did it. Dymon brusquely challenged Carney on his premise that all banks should follow an updated set of rules to avoid future catastrophes, calling the notion "anti-American".
