New paper alert! ‼️‼️ Super happy to share that my postdoc paper is finally out! 1/3 We looked at scaling of chromosome separation during anaphase in zebrafish embryos.

Don’t forget to apply! This is an amazing opportunity!

1. A thread about the value of doing "slow science": When I was in grad school I heard this (likely apocryphal) story about one of my favourite scientists: Barbara McClintock.

As we're entering the last month for registering the FlyJEDI meeting 2025 shorturl.at/8VO7A I am happy to share with you that the event is now sponsored by @fly-eds.bsky.social @ijmonod.bsky.social Many thanks for supporting the community's reboot. Join us to build a strong research community!

I put together a small guide on how to get started with Fiji. Please distribute to anyone who might benefit form this! zenodo.org/records/1477... #imageanalysis #fiji #imagej #training

Wow! We got the cover! #MBOC #ASCB #CellBio So proud of #TeamTestis. Screening <270 lines for shape defects was a huge team effort! I created this collage from the team’s images from the past 2 years! Depth-color-coded with Fiji. Inspired by late 19th century lithographic animal illustrations.

Porto is a beautiful during spring (it is all year around but I may be biased)! And is hosting the conference that you don't want to miss on #adhesion regulation in #cancer. A great lineup of speakers from basic to clinical research and also many talk opportunities. Check it out and join us!

Support a fantastic society journal by submitting your insect physiology work to @royentsoc.bsky.social PHEN. In the upcoming January volume, we discuss some of the key questions for future research in physiological #entomology. #symbiosky 🐜🐝🦋🦟🧪 resjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/share/YJQDXW...

My regular reminder that there is an open call @pasteur.fr for junior group leader covering various axis (including topics related to development biology), open till Feb. 28th. Don't hesitate to DM me or reach out by email if you want to get more context. research.pasteur.fr/fr/call/call...

Very excited that the lab's first paper is out! We showed that in stem cells, Aurora B controls abscission dynamics by regulating microtubules stability and MCAK recruitment. Very happy with this streamlined version of our 2024 preprint. www.cell.com/cell-reports...

Every once in a while we publish a paper that moves a whole field forward. I think that's the case for this one from the Bugaj lab, where they describe proteins for THERMOGENETIC control of cellular behavior. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

It seems that many labs make only incomplete use of the three steps of our #Drosophila genetic training, which includes the manual, the PPT and the tasks. See explanations and downloads here: sites.manchester.ac.uk/fly-facility...

It's always mesmerizing seeing how these group of cells move. ℹ️Border cells invading through nurse cells ℹ️Drosophila S9 egg chambers

Yamini @yamini-ravichan.bsky.social changed the topology of Hydra to show that actin orientational defects of Hydra induce the full program of head regeneration: www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... Mechanics controls development! Thanks to Dan Pearce, Karsten Kruse, Matthias Vogg & Brigitte Galliot.

Paper published!!! Tremendous work by Gordana Scepanovic, with key contributions by @negberry.bsky.social and @krothphd.bsky.social. We ask why is mTor signalling necessary for rapid wound repair. 🧪 #drosophila #devbio Share link: authors.elsevier.com/a/1kS2e5Sx5g...

Or what about the #Drosophila computer game? Loads of stuff that I almost forgot about: scratch.mit.edu/projects/744...

How oncogenic clones can eliminate their neighbours to take over space ? There are different ways combining growth and interfacial tension induced compaction. Check out our latest preprint led by Léo Valon and Alexis Matamoro-Vidal to learn more about this 👇 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

NEW PAPER: The essential adherens junction component alpha-catenin is regulated during #mitosis. For those who can’t get enough adhesion protein biology, a 🧵: 1/10 journals.biologists.com/bio/article/...

Cells are full of protein machines. Most don’t act alone, but instead form part of larger multiprotein complexes. For example, epithelial tissues & organs assemble by virtue of the multiprotein machines mediating cell-cell adhesion or adhesion of cells to the underlying extracellular matrix 1/n 🧪

Planning your summer science adventures? Join us at this amazing Gordon Conference in the Swiss Alps. Follow this thread for the diverse topics and speakers already on board, and we're starting to look at abstracts for more invited talks! Please re-post

Dear Droso peeps, we re-announce the upcoming JEDI meeting that will take place at Château du Feÿ from June 3rd to 5th in 2025. You'll find a prelim program flies-jedi.github.io/projects/202... We're hoping to gather about 45 of more or less young droso PI to reboot the community. -> Register Now!

Read below for the latest from Emily Ho in my lab on in vivo receptor tyrosine kinase biosensors. This has been a *dream* project, seeing endogenous RTK activity in live embryos for the first time. Surprise: they don't always match those of downstream signaling pathways!

I've always wondered how Lgl can form a stable complex with aPKC-Par6, and also establish complementary domains. The Cryo-EM structure guided a new explanation for their mutual antagonistic relationship and a mechanistic understanding of Par6 ability to act as both an aPKC inhibitor and activator.

#i3S is hosting its IV Open Day for MSc students looking for their end-of-degree #internships. "We describe a #mtDNA variant that confers protection against variety of pathogens in #Drosophila. This protection was at least partially caused by enhanced cell-mediated innate #immunity, including higher numbers of immune cells prior to and during infection." journals.plos.org/plosgenetics...

Building the body of an embryo or maintaining tissues in adults rely on cell migration. Our new preprint is out - please share! We asked: How can we make CRISPR knockouts in vivo more efficient? And set up an assay that enables detection of CRISPR cutting with 100s-1000s of sgRNAs over entire chromosome arms in living animals. Grab a ☕ and let’s dive in. 🧵🧪 1/n #CRISPR #geneediting
