Last week our PI was talked about isotopes, metals and "one health" in Kiel Conference #KielScales25 (Kiel, Germany), and then was invited to present the project ERC PollutedPast at the first Spanish meeting about lead in Roman times: Plvbvm Hispaniae (La Carolina, Jaén). Great week !!!!

Last week our PI has been at the Spanish National Archaeological Museum taking samples for the project "Sounds and interpreters of the past" funded by the Palarq Foundation, led by University of Valladolid. It has been a pleasure to be at the museum, who also participates in this exciting project.

During 2024 our new PollutedPast clean laboratory has been built, conditioned and equipped to analyze low trace metals and organic compounds such as collagen and bioapatite.

The PollutedPast team need to detect traces of mercury in human remains and natural archives, for this we use DMA mercury analyzer. Furthermore, thanks to GAIN-Xunta de Galicia, we have been able to incorporate a new equipment for our white laboratory: a freeze dryer to avoid cross contamination!!
