Calling Tudor historians, does anyone know if it’s true that Gardiner, Bp Winchester died of dropsy? And has anyone seen a source suggesting that he actually started to “burst” towards the end? I have just been reading a very bloodthirsty Protestant who goes into considerable detail.

Love the way the images coalesce into a distinct atmosphere in this longer poem by @softlywild.bsky.social. Moving and vivid

Just wondering if anyone can think of a home for a tiny story (sub 1K) set in 13thC Assisi and involving two saints. Does anyone publish that sort of thing?

Elated to have my short fiction ‘The War and the Quiet’ published in the third issue of the wonderful @underbellypress.bsky.social. Warm thanks to the amazing editor, Lucy Huddleston, and her brilliant team! Please visit the link below to read my story. underbellypress.wixsite.com/home/issue-t...

‘The same whitewashed brick wall, the crates of empty bottles, the damp air that is lit now by the pale orange streetlight’: really enjoyed this atmospheric story by @lmcknighthardy.bsky.social in @thelonelycrowd.bsky.social about memory, the past and the realities of going home

Just posting this in case it's of interest. A while ago a number of us were invited by @scratchbooks.bsky.social to write introductions to a short story more than fifty years old. Katherine Mansfield came up a lot. Here's my favourite of hers. www.scratch-books.co.uk/post/the-fly...

Huge thanks to @alcs.co.uk for yet another annual payment. I don't know how you do it, but do it you do. Always seems like a miracle in this currently unmiraculous world.

We're open to submissions of fiction up to 2,500w #microfiction #flashfiction #shortstories #translations #writingcommunity. Please follow the link for our guidelines fictivedream.com/submission-g...

'A rotund believer, checked dress shirt half-untucked so that Phil recoils from a glimpse of shaggy underbelly, shouts, “Amen!” Feel rather ecstatic after reading this fabulous story by @eleanorfuller.bsky.social. So vivid, so engaging, so many original sentences. What a writer.
