THE LEGEND OF ZELDA 🔺🖇️ please give Skyward Sword another chance if you hated the Wii version. I truly think this game is one of the best "classic 3D style" Zelda games. The combat feels very tight and rewarding if you use the analog stick, and the impressionist aesthetic holds up beautifully.

SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE 🌞🏝️ god this game is so fucking good I can't believe people dunk on it. they took a theme/aesthetic, stretched it to its limits, and it results some fantastic level design. FLUDD had to walk so Cappy could run as the "sidekick that introduces brand new gameplay/movement tech"

CALL OF DUTY 🔫 I went to a midnight release for Modern Warfare 2 back in 2009, and GameStop held a pre-release LAN tournament to build extra hype. I made it to the final round, but the tournament ended when the host Xbox 360 RRoD'd in the middle of the match. A perfect microcosm of 2009 gaming.

TONY HAWK'S PRO SKATER 🛹👱‍♂️ THPS3 = THUG > THUG2* > THPS4 > THAW > THPS2** > THPS1 maybe the GOAT video game franchise from a pure gameplay perspective. it's super tight mechanically + it's easy to pick-up, but super tough to master. tons of room for player expression, and fantastic level-design

MONSTER HUNTER 🔱🐲 MH on PS2 is a flawed game, but some of it's flaws work in it's favor. modern MH has made matchmaking a little too seamless, and I think the game works better when you have to organically find a party, and play through a series of quests with them to eventually do what you want

MEGA MAN 🟦💣 Mega Man 8 is the pinnacle of the mainline games for me. The pixel art is exceptional, the soundtrack is very strong, and it overall feels great to play. MMBN4 is maybe my favorite MMBN game, despite being considered the worst (which clearly belongs to MMBN1).
