🚨I've posted BRFSS data in SAS, R, and Stata formats for 1987-2023 here on this Mendeley Data Repository Free to use without restriction! data.mendeley.com/datasets/shs...

Philip Haywood discussed the pitfalls of cost consequence studies in virtual care. What is the value of freed up resources? #HSR24

I’ve been a doctor for more than 20 years & this is the first time that I’ve seen a paediatric stroke awareness campaign (from the American Heart Association). Gosh, what could possibly have changed in the past 5 years* which is increasing the risk of paediatric stroke? *Spoiler alert: it’s COVID

Thomasina Donovan created an implementation costing tool! #HSR24

Afternoon sessions, no better 😕 Venues need to be pushed on this and held accountable.

And Australia won’t let us vaccinate our children. Criminal.

An Duy-Tran was flooded for requests for his diabetes life expectancy simulation, leading him to create a synthetic population of 5 million diabetes patients to estimate life expectancies #HSR24

Lots of people report they’re building a clinical prediction model, but how many actually end up being published? Not many, says A/Prof @nicolewhite.bsky.social

Loving #HSR24, but @hsraanz.bsky.social can we do something about the poor ventilation in the meeting rooms? I recorded this in Meeting Room 3. These CO2 levels not only represent a real risk of this becoming a superspreader event, it makes people sleepy!

Some personal news: I ate an undisclosed number of these delicious scones with cream and jam at HARAANZ #HSR24

Prof Adler-Milstein provides the “cold blanket” view of EHRs: aside from computerized order entry, every other dimension of quality has failed to see major improvements in care #digitalhealth #HSR24

New letter our at @journalgim.bsky.social with Henry Larweh, Kali Thomas, and Andrew Anderson @johnshopkinssph.bsky.social. We identify and characterize the growing list of MA "affinity plans", marketed for the needs of underserved beneficiaries. #healthpolicy link.springer.com/article/10.1...

So looking forward to #HSR24 this week and meeting new friends and colleagues in Australia!

Great story on why both boys and girls should be vaccinated against cancer

“When hospital staff began masking again, the rates of hospital-onset respiratory viral infections decreased by 33%”

#pedsky #medsky The American Academy of Pediatrics is collecting stories from physicians about patients we have cared for with vaccine preventable diseases to help in their advocacy against RFK’s confirmation. Please share your stories to [email protected]

I became a little bit obsessed with this hole in the black clouds yesterday.

POV: you can’t find your mask, so you put on a fresh one, and then discover in the mirror the other one is still around your neck. (Kids, did I do POV right?!)

3yo, matter of factly: “we need to get these train parts off of the f******g floor.” 🫠😅🤦‍♀️

"Over the next decade, the number of people with long COVID could approach the number who currently have heart disease... We call for a moonshot for long COVID, a commitment — from the US government — to invest at least US$1 billion annually over the next ten years to address the problem."

I’m today’s episode of “extremely three,” my child has been crying for 5 minutes because I sliced his banana into half-moon shapes instead of full circles. Parenting own-goal. How is your morning going?

Rhody love

Whenever I write about long-covid or ME, I get waves of emails from chronically ill folk who say they feel seen and heard. But with this piece on fatigue (and PEM), I'm *also* hearing from healthy people saying that they finally get what their loved ones are going through. Which feels amazing.

Oh, great. Medpage Today is reporting that leprosy is probably endemic in central Florida.

I'm not saying chiropractors should be illegal, I'm just saying they should have to have cigarette style warning labels in big print on their waiting room walls saying "The guy who invented this says he learned it from a ghost."
