Drove down from the Palisades this morning. Very odd seeing the Santa Monica pier parking lots converted to a northbound checkpoint with multiple lanes of car, each with a letter on the windshield designating which neighborhood they’re allowed to enter. Cirque du Soleil was there just a month ago.

The county building inspectors are recording the damage for every parcel. Our Church small group met here three weeks ago. It was the home of the parents of one of the wives. I can tell you that the little buzzer at the top of the stairs was broken before the fire.

A L.A. little fire update: the very acute needs seem to be largely being met. Reports form the FEMA centers is that things are actually very helpful and running smoothly. Longer term problems are of course harder.
