When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

The power of on-screen representation 😻🐈‍⬛

I really don't think playing along or being silent will save science in the US.

Really looking forward to this workshop!

So happy to be back home in San Diego for #Dros25 for great science! Come see @drosopachea.bsky.social from our lab speaking in the Thurs 4:30-6pm session on Cell Division and Growth!

Excited for #Dros25! Please visit the Fox Lab attendees. Josh Silva: P249F, Talk in the Polyploidy Workshop Thursday evening Jane Blackmer: P242F Erin Dickert: P259S Satya Yalamanchi: P265S And a talk by me Saturday afternoon (168)

#Dros25 starts today! 🪰 Get ready for 5 days of dynamic science, engaging professional development events, & plenty of opportunities to network, form new collaborations, reconnect with old friends & colleagues, and form lasting bonds with members of the Fly community 🤝 🫶

The PCB Committee for Community Building packed lots of diapers at the diaper bank Friday! 10/10 recommend getting out in your community and volunteering. Especially during tumultuous times, it's great to do tangible things that help others.

NIH grants are a great investment in the economy and society! These cuts are short sighted and damaging.

Congrats to Carolina's own JP Flores and colleauges in @standupforscience.bsky.social. Happy to see our news department covering. www.science.org/content/arti...

Big thank you to the faculty that showed up. Our students need our support and voices!

Very much this.

Great crowd at the Stand Up For Science rally in Raleigh! 🧪 I had to cut the video short because my son wanted to use my phone to take pictures of the dogs in attendance (one had a sign that said "support labs" 😂). There were many more folks than I captured here. 👏🏼👏🏼 @standupforscience.bsky.social

I loved getting out to #StandUpForScience in Raleigh NC. Thank you so much to the organizers for putting this event together. And to everyone across the country that participated! @standupforscience.bsky.social

Ready for the Stand Up for Science Rally! Hope to see you there! #science

Sharing this brave piece that echos a lot of what I have been feeling. The silence around DEI from institutions means the damage is already done. Leadership asking us to keep our heads down to prevent actual damage ignore that it’s already here for people like me. stanforddaily.com/2025/03/03/f...

MORE LOCATIONS BEING ADDED BY THE DAY! Want to plan a local event or be included on the map of events? Visit standupforscience2025.org/local-event-information for more information & to be added to the map!

I plan on going! Please join me. #StandUpForScience

The accuracy....

Diversity is our greatest asset, even if the government disagrees… They not like us! POC in STEM are here to stay. They tried to rig the game but you can’t fake influence! Mustard on the [Be][At] bro. Happy Black History Month!

This is devastating. The NIH plays an important role in coordinating trials across the country. Do you have a loved one in a clinical trial? It might be stopped due to these cuts. Call your representatives! Let them know you care about science and developing life saving treatments!

This country is in danger. Gutting science will lead to death and economic collapse.

Welcome to the Bluesky account for Stand Up for Science 2025! Keep an eye on this space for updates, event information, and ways to get involved. We can't wait to see everyone #standupforscience2025 on March 7th, both in DC and locations nationwide! #scienceforall #sciencenotsilence

NIH funded research is good for society and the economy. #KeepNIHStrong

NIH has cut billions of dollars in biomedical funding, effective immediately The move halts a large slice of money for most universities and research institutions virtually overnight, imperiling vital research in everything from cancer to heart disease. www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...

These proposed cuts will devastate science and innovation in the US and in turn hurt the economy. This administration is destroying our country.

Halting meetings at the NIH that funds research is morally and economically irresponsible.

You cannot erase trans people.
