This criticism makes no sense. They're taunting Trump for chickening out on policies which they oppose. Would they rather he followed through on them?

Kristof found the kids who died because of Trump's dismantling of USAID www.nytimes.com/2025/05/31/o...

Especially if you’re a veteran, but even if not, I’d like you to consider joining me and @AdamKinzinger in Washington on Friday to rally for veterans, our oaths, and service. Here’s why I think you should come: (/1)

Trump is right about DC being a swamp, he just made it a polluted ocean. I've worked for Congress, here's how it works and how it contributed to where we are now

Somehow the "We need to support policies that are popular" crowd never land on the very popular polices like "taxing big corporation more," "making health care more affordable," or "paying teachers more." It's always just "be 10% more racist."

Hey I know what you could do, fund a think tank to push Democrats to stick together to do the right thing even when it's hard and scary and even when polls are nebulous.

You can win sometimes. The Education Department was planning to garnish Social Security benefits on defaulted student loans. But once awareness of that got out, they TACO'd. www.cnbc.com/2025/06/02/t...

If I can be real for a moment, what frightens me most right now is that David Brooks is more upset about Trump-Musk than many, maybe most, liberal pundits and Democratic leaders are.

at lake and bloomington where ICE were seen. large group of angry people

On Sunday, my friend, Jonathan Joss was murdered and it took me a minute to find the words... Like so many of our lives, Jonathan's existed at the powerful intersections of Indigeneity, queerness, visibility, and vulnerability. He was fierce, funny, flawed, and real in every way that mattered.

More polling just dropped -- by a pretty huge margin Americans think that having international students at US universities is good for the country, not bad -- 56% to 14% (+42) and for 18-29 YOs, nearly 1/2 say international students are "very good"

Some interesting insights here, including that people are much more influenced by *people they follow* switching platforms than by their own *followers* switching platforms. Preprint: "Why Academics are Leaving Twitter for Bluesky" arxiv.org/abs/2505.24801

✡️🕊️ A broad coalition of Jewish organizations, synagogues, and concerned individuals gathered outside the White House this Sunday, June 1st, to demand an end to the war in Gaza ✋🛑 🧵 Video 1/2👇

Hey DOGE!

Anyone who talked to folks not on Twitter/in the party sounded this alarm and was shamed for it. We still have people TODAY trying to rewrite history. We should be furious that our future was thrown away like this not doubling down.

Democratic base: We hate spineless Democrats. We can't stand how they grant Republican framing on immigration, Gaza, and more. They are putting people at risk and abdicating their role as opposition leaders. Chuck Schumer: I TRIPLE DOG DARE "TACO Trump" to go to war with Iran!!

Before the the rallies and the rhetoric, there was a 4th of July parade: Haitian immigrants carrying American flags. Then everything changed. @franciswilkinson.bsky.social's essay on what happened in Charleroi, PA:

I am v glad to see this ongoing reckoning w Scalia. In my view, he's responsible for much of the awfulness we see among Fedsoc judges who were raised on his ops & think its a sign of intelligence to disparage your colleagues in personal terms & act as if opposing args arent just wrong but laughable.

The Washington Examiner (the conservative news outlet) reports that Stephen Miller screamed at ICE officials: "What do you mean you're going after criminals? Why aren't you at Home Depot? Why aren't you at 7-Eleven?" Kinda blows up the narrative that they care about public safety.

A powerful read from @franciswilkinson.bsky.social www.bloomberg.com/opinion/feat...

Shorter Justice Kavanaugh: Let's wait till after the midterm elections to hold that bans on AR-15s violate the Second Amendment.

Video shows two unknown men, without uniforms or identifying insignias, attacking and kidnapping a man from a Nashua, NH courthouse back in February. During the kidnapping, the assailants, presumed to be ICE agents, knocked an elderly bystander who walks with a cane to the ground.

"If what you're doing is legitimate and lawful, why do you need to cover your face?”

vocal opposition to democratic gerontocracy is nifty because it serves a constructive purpose — passing the torch — and a political one: signaling independence from The Democrats.

Back when I was an antipoverty policy nerd, asset tests were one of my things. They suck. 10 years ago I was criticizing Maine's rightwing governor for planning new asset tests. Newsom has jumped the shark. www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp...

"The hallways...were absolutely lined with ICE agents. And immigrants were scared to leave, even though their cases were still open. What happened was that ICE agents then stormed into the courtroom, kicked out the attorneys, and detained everyone in the courtroom over the judge's objections."

Jeffries talking like he’s weighing air strikes vs covert action.

The corruption here is staggering #Cryptogate

If you can't criticize the person leading your team, you're in a cult. And if the person leading wants no criticism, it's a cult. This is correct personally, professionally, and politically. ✌🏿 🌎 ❤️

Quid pro Cuomo. "Many of the donations came after Mr. Cuomo made a rare appearance at the Real Estate Board of New York, where Politico reported that he expressed regret for signing rent reforms as governor that landlords bitterly opposed."

As NYWFP works to consolidate support around its slate of candidates, we're proud to rank @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social #1 🥳 To give voters clear guidance, we're ranking a full slate of 5 candidates. When we unite, we can defeat Cuomo & elect a mayor who fights for us. Let's get this done!

The Working Families Party has fought for a more affordable New York for decades. I am honored to lead their slate as their first choice for Mayor. Our city is done with the corrupt politics of the past and ready for a new generation of leadership. Let’s win it together.

I think we are all good over here. No need for that.

Happy Pride!

Clean energy saves money and lives—and Clairton’s Solar for Schools project is a momentous step in the right direction. Instead of cuts, Congress must protect and expand these investments. Thank you Climate Action Campaign for leading the way.

Once again this White House is making baseless, cruel cuts—this time to Job Corps centers, including in Pittsburgh. These centers provide young people with educational support, career + technical trainings, and housing. Congress already funded them thru FY25. The admin must reverse course.

Nearly 1,000 registered nurses and advanced practice professionals at one of Pittsburgh’s largest labor and delivery centers are launching a union push this week, citing concerns about staffing and quality of patient care.

Pennsylvania nurses have faced one of the worst staffing shortages in the nation, with little action even after the pandemic. Standing in solidarity with Magee nurses as they fight to unionize for better staffing and a voice in patient care.

Reupping this because it's so crucial to keep this progress moving forward! ✅✅✅

Good afternoon, Bed-Stuy.

The BBC obtained a mobile phone that was smuggled out of North Korea. The level of control the regime holds over its citizens is shocking but not surprising.

Dear Members of the Press. P0TUS bragging that his tariffs are "already" bringing TRILLIONS of $$ into the US. Beyond the fact that it's not true, will you please ask him, "If that's so, then there's no need to even discuss cutting social services, medicine, education, air safety, etc etc. Right?"
