New paper out today. It's always worth reading the original research, rather than the media spin... #Archaeology #Prehistory www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

Highly recommend a read of this lovely paper by Richard Bradley and Aaron Watson on Neolithic monument complexes in Scotland and Ireland, and the connections between them. Journeying must have been a significant component of beliefs, social organisation and identity in the middle-late Neolithic:

Our next lecture is on Friday 13th December, "The Cursus Monuments of Buckinghamshire and the Great Ouse Valley" by David Saunders. United Reformed Church, Welwyn Garden City, 7.45 for the lecture. @prehistoricsociety.bsky.social

Too good not to share: a wooden floor of a #Neolithic house. Unearthed in Alleshausen-Grundwiesen, a wetland settlement at the western rim of the Federsee marshlands, 3020-2700 BC. 📷H. Schlichterle/Landesamt für Denkmalpflege Baden Württemberg 🏺 #archaeology

We also have a YouTube channel where you can watch lectures given by prehistorians from across the world: #Archaeology youtube.com/@theprehisto...

Off to spend the day at @cilip.bsky.social Green Libraries Conference. Looking forward to hearing about all the sustainability initiatives across the sector. First some time on the train with the latest PAST @prehistoricsociety.bsky.social. Always good when one of these drops though the door #Torc

Our thoughts go to Prof Lord Renfrew's family, friends and colleagues at this time. #Archaeology

Only if you sing it, Dan! 😊

For all your prehistory needs👇

I couldn't emulate my previous Stonehenge sunset at Avebury yesterday, but did manage a shot that shows off quite how long (100m) the West Kennet Land Barrow is. #archaeology #wiltshire #avebury @artefactual.bsky.social @ladyliminal.bsky.social @prehistoricsociety.bsky.social

Another good issue of the @prehistoricsociety.bsky.social newsletter. Interesting to read about the first dated evidence of Bronze Age tin mining in Cornwall. I always thought evidence would eventually be found, but I didn’t expect it to be 40ft down 😲 during tip reworking in the 18th century

#archaeology #wiltshire #stonehenge @prehistoricsociety.bsky.social @suegreaney.bsky.social @urbanprehistorian.bsky.social @artefactual.bsky.social Hanging around henges has its payoffs. Stonehenge this afternoon. Not sure if my feet reached -2degC, but the air temp did!

Welcome to @royalarchinst.bsky.social ! Great to see you here! 🙂

Do give Rob, who creates wonderful illustrations for us, a follow. (... and yes, we know this share is a Medieval image. We'll let him off, just this once! 😉)
