i genuinely dont know what other industry has failed as speculatively as journalism has failed at meeting this moment we are talking about whether zohran is going to do a sharia law while gop has been trying to pass a bill to strip medicaid to pay for concentration camps like

I listened to this over two drives, and I'm going to listen again, but it loosened up something inside me that was knotted up so tightly I had to breathe around it.

Not sure how many more times @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social has to say those exact words over and over again, Dan. I guess you aren’t willing to support the democratic nominee? Our district has spoken. Hope you listen.

I am so damn sick of people raising questions about whether Jews in NYC will feel safe with Mandani, who has run a positive and inclusive campaign. These questions aren’t concern about antisemitism, they’re reflections of Islamophobia.

Zohran’s first magazine cover since winning

Spotted:

Imagine having hundreds of millions of dollars to spare, and using it to ensure that millions of people in your city can barely afford to live.

The rise of people like Lander and Walz, whose ideologies don't exactly match mine but have the exact right combination of "love thy neighbor" and "fuck you, asshole" attitudes, is massive positive for people who care about left of center politics

The Democratic primary for NYC Mayor was not about Israel-Palestine, but that wasn't for a lack of trying by Cuomo and the media establishment. The thing is, they failed to tar Mamdani as an extremist for his pro-Palestine views, and there are lessons to take from that. Here's my analysis:

This is 100% true, just as the press spent ZERO time on the attempted mass assassination of the entirety of democratic leadership through pipe bombs just a few years ago. It’s literally never even discussed! A MAGA terrorist tried to kill all of the leading dems!

"They lit $20 million on fire, and all it did was boost Zohran's numbers. And in no small part because they corrupted their own souls by supporting a person they know to be a corrupt, abusive asshole. What are they gonna do now?" @bradlander.bsky.social, the man you are. (via @hellgatenyc.com)

Get this corrupt racist out of office asap.

To me, the lesson of De Blasio and the NYPD is different: they will hate you no matter what. NYPD, especially the white well-connected officers who make up the upper ranks, get their news from conservative propaganda and will not respect your authority or cooperate with you no matter what you do.

We are discovering what happens when a society decides to give the absolute dumbest people imaginable way too much power.

LOL we should make these motherfuckers watch Monsoon Wedding and have to perform a dance to it

Chris is right -- this is very big, and the Hotel Trades Council should be endorsing Mamdani soon, too.

So when do Blue states start banning firearms? And then start making every gun owner file an individual lawsuit seeking an individual injunction? Or they can go through the class certification process which, let me tell you having done it myself in litigation, takes forever. Let’s do this.

looking forward to some parents suing to demand segregated schools because integration violates their religious beliefs

This also speaks to the cons' short-sightedness in favor of their commitment to the almighty executive. The Court has just invited an onslaught of class action litigation upon themselves.

People are more upset at Zohran Mamdani's proposal to put one non-profit grocery store that sells food at cost, in each NYC borough, than the current system that is forcing 7 million people to go into debt to buy groceries with buy now / pay later services.

It’s worth reflecting how the idea of “feeling unsafe” can be weaponized to rationalize bigotry and dismantle civil liberties

6-3 in favor of Trump in the birthright citizenship case— which at this stage was only about about nationwide injunctions. But Sotomayor brings it back to what this is really about—letting Trump get away with lawlessness. Her dissent is another banger which she is reading from the bench:

Mayor de Blasio told his appointees to freeze the rent 3 times in 2015, 2016, and 2020. They're acting like it's never been done before

Because their campaigns aren’t entirely built on the legacy of their last name

Lander needs to go in some sort of wingman hall of fame

The entire Bezos wedding-apalooza in Venice is starting to feel like an outrage marketing campaign for Zohran Mamdani's candidacy.

Democratic Party elected officials need to endorse the Democratic Party nominee for Mayor. Any Democrat who endorses Cuomo should be forced to leave the party.

I've been reading a lot of articles analyzing how Zohran Mamdani won over Andrew Cuomo. Here's a video from January of him meeting donors, some who gave $25, and talking to them about why and their concerns: www.instagram.com/p/DE7uL9vOZt...

maybe i’m being too optimistic but i do not think kirsten gillibrand going on a psychotic screaming islamophobic tirade is going to make people like the democratic party more

This is generally how I feel about the "free buses" idea. If Mamdani tries and only gets, say, 10 free bus routes and has to compromise by instead providing dedicated bus lanes and other things that improve service, that's a win! We should want elected officials to attempt bold things.

This is the New York Times so the bar is buried in the ground, but it's a shameful thing to print. We're talking about Zohran Mamdani, the guy who worked to save a Yiddish bookstore, cross-endorsed with Lander and did Yiddish language outreach to frum communities. What are we even talking about?

One thing the Obama transition got wrong was thinking—once in office, policy differences aside—everyone would be pulling in the same direction. And then Republicans spent inauguration eve planning to oppose literally everything the new admin would attempt. Why do I bring that up here? Oh, no reason.

the way calling for the deportation of any visible non-white person is rapidly becoming normalized is a huge cause for concern.

Here's a great lesson in how good design means *everything.* www.curbed.com/article/zohr...

I am begging ppl to get a grip.

NY, call her office - (202) 224-4451. I'd say DON'T be mean to the folks answering the phone - they probably hate this decision, too! I always try to ENLIST the person I'm talking to - "You and I get it; your boss doesn't. Hope you can use your influence to let 'em know how folks feel!"

A FAIR analysis of media coverage of the top six Democratic candidates (based on polling through the end of May) found that Cuomo’s name appeared in headlines seven times more often than Zohran Mamdani, ... and nine times more often than Brad Lander....

tough times for vote blue no matter who.

Each time a remotely progressive candidate wins office in the US, the rich declare they're going to leave town. What do they actually do? Nothing. A 2016 study found only 0.04% of millionaires move in a given year due to tax increases. Rich people talk to feel important. Please properly tax them.

The freakout about the Zohran government possibly opening some groceries store in food deserts is fascinating because the simplest way for capital to route around it would be for businesses just open up there and obviate the need but they appear unwilling/uninterested in doing so, so govt steps in.

I’ve seen lots of nonsense since Mamdani’s primary victory but the most irritating thread is people claiming they will leave NY if he is mayor. First of all, Go! It’s fine. It’s FINE. Go swelter in FL or wherever. No one cares. And secondly shut up. You’re lying. You aren’t going anywhere.

A huge blow was dealt to hurricane forecasters this week as a critical tool was abruptly terminated by the Department of Defense and NOAA. The immediate discontinuation of data from three weather satellites will severely impact hurricane forecasts this season and beyond. More ⬇️
