Brilliant and much-deserved takedown by my awesome colleague @hakeemjefferson.bsky.social of Stanford Business School professor Jonathan Berk's clueless and intellectually dishonest attacks on DE&I. Hakeem does a masterful job of dismantling Berk's disingenuous nonsense, point by point. Read & enjoy

Ugh. This is pretty awful.

The Meta oversight board upheld a decision to keep up a Libs of Tiktok post targeting a trans minor. They said there was no imminent threat of incitement to violence despite bomb threats being made against the school. www.oversightboard.com/decision/bun...

Unf...ing believable. It's outrageous on so many levels, including that this makes it impossible for their lawyers to try to do anything on their behalf, since the Supreme Court has said cases must be filed in the district where people are being held. So the government just hides them. 😡😡

BREAKING: we won! A federal judge has enjoined the administration's shut down of Voice of America Another success for the Constitution and for us @sddaction.bsky.social & our many wonderful partners & clients More details to follow--stay tuned!

Or one might also ask: Can Trump withstand Harvard's? Stop implying that he is invincible. He won't be if we--and you, New York Times--don't let him be. Can Harvard Withstand Trump’s Financial Attack? www.nytimes.com/2025/04/22/u...

This.

Sigh. Any Trump supporters who think this is what you were voting for when he promised to reduce inflation on Day One and immediately make America wealthy again. How can anyone still be OK with this?

This is specifically about universities. It is very important to see how fascists and authoritarians in other countries have attacked them. And to think, as Gessen does here, about constructive responses. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/21/o...

Ugh. Alito is so horribly, completely out of touch and racist. Just awful.

Yes, yes, yes.

Hehehe. Love this. So right.

"By February, staff were locked out. Phone lines dead. HIV treatments in Africa halted. Food relief suspended in Haiti. Contracts canceled. The message wasn’t subtle: this government no longer builds; it erases."

"Copyright filters replace 300 pages of statute and 200 years of caselaw with a simple binary: is this a match or not? Under copyright law, that’s not the end of the analysis; it’s the beginning." www.recreatecoalition.org/content-filt...

Happy Earth Day, everyone.

made this argument last month but trump’s retribution campaign is very clearly against the entire american people.

So right.

Yeah, sadly.

In the benchmark survey, Bright Line Watch, professors rate the performance of American democracy from zero (complete dictatorship) to 100 (perfect democracy). From Nov to today scholars' rating plummeted from 67 to 55. "We are no longer living in a liberal democracy." www.npr.org/2025/04/22/n...

The whole @acyn.bsky.social phenomenon is fascinating, and the Post has a little profile of the guy behind one of the most powerful liberal social media accounts in the world. One thing they left out: the whole phenomenon couldn't exist without #fairuse. www.washingtonpost.com/technology/...

Ugh

Larry David writing a NYT guest essay as a man having dinner with Hitler, just to roast Bill Maher as a smug, self-important clown, is the stuff of comedy legend. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/21/o...

Hehehe.

Hehehe.

This.

Once again, the cruelty is the point. There's no justification whatsoever for not allowing him to be there, other then saying we hate non-citizens, especially those that dare to criticize Israel, and want them to suffer.

Yes!!

We hope the third circuit will adopt the belief that headnotes aren’t copyrightable. The excellent brief below explains why in beautiful detail.

“When you justify surveillance by saying that it's only going to be used against the most violent criminals, what you end up seeing is those technologies become - slowly, over time- an everyday aspect of policing,” EFF’s @mguariglia.bsky.social told @nbcnews.com.

Pathetic racists.

Be afraid of this, very afraid.

The rule of law isn't just words. It’s the bedrock stability that protects our way of life. Attacks on it merit more than a shoulder shrug & then a look away. I wrote a little bit to help you understand more about what it is & how it impacts our daily lives. joycevance.substack.com/p/rule-of-law

Infuriating racists.

Gun registry? No. Autism registry? Yes? Fuck ALL the way off.

Very proud of Harvard today.

Yep. So much merit. 😡

Joni Ernst and Thom Tillis — 2 GOP senators who knew how bad Hegseth was but voted for him anyway out of personal ambition — should lose their re-election bids over this if they run in 2026.

Ahahahaha! Hard to know which of the crazy Trump bunch is the most delusional and deranged, but Stephen Miller always makes a very strong run. Talk about complete nonsense.
