Yes. I am right. I am seeing how Chat GPT is ruining students critical thinking and writing skills in real time. It is not the future. It is a tool designed to render the populace helpless, to make people doubt their innate intelligence, and to foster overreliance on technology.

This is a vital message: one of the larger reasons BlueSky is refreshingly free of alt-right shitlords is because in the early days we made a gentleperson’s agreement to starve these fuckos out and it worked. No likes, no quotes, no engagement. They got bored and left. Please keep the Old Ways.

The only responsible way to teach children about AI is to show them how irresponsible the adults, especially its purveyors—are being—there is no showing kids how to use it “responsibly.”

Professors across the country spoke to @rewirenewsgroup.com about how they're fighting Trump's attempt to infiltrate higher ed. From mutual defense pacts to taking pay cuts, they say "trying to appease an authoritarian government is never really going to work." rewirenewsgroup.com/2025/06/13/i...

Who will go with me? I will proclaim my name about the field. I am the son of Marcus Cato, ho! A foe to tyrants, and my country’s friend.

Today's reminder that, no, we were neither hysterically over-reacting nor wrong when we invoked Weimar comparisons & told you to listen to the comparative politics experts like @dziblatt.bsky.social years ago.

One of the unintended consequences...

@baldurbjarnason.com for the win. I'm reminded of Robert McChesney's work in the 1990s when he said the internet won't save us. AI won't save us either.

Social media creating two media universes: one in which you drive yourself into, at best, a lowkey depression being continually served videos of atrocities, one in which you are so under-informed that you vote for someone pledging to deport 20mn people and then go 'wait, he wants to deport people?'

It’s a difficult proposition for undergrads to work through, but choosing a major isn’t really about what kind of jobs you want to do so much as what sorts of questions you want to think about or *how* you want to think about questions throughout your life.
