A5 #LTHEChat My Genie would also provide positive assistance to everyone unsure about which tools they might need. And would force everyone to use Styles in Microsoft Word (and that means everyone ... and from VC upward)

A5 #LTHEChat My Genie would allow students (and staff) to choose the tools that they want and/or need to use and the institution would accommodate all the different requests with a happy smile!

A1 #LTHEChat Cmap - concept mapper - is probably the only tool I would recommend unreservedly: free, easy to learn, can be shared, and helps learning. What more could we possibly want?

A1 #LTHEChat And the Minidisk made it so easy to edit audio (lapses into silent nostalgic sobbing). And it was nice way back when to have software which did not change the interface every week without warning you

A1 #LTHEChat Wrote a book once in Ventura Publisher - taught me a lot about page layout cos you had to tell it what you wanted.

#LTHEchat A6 In a perfect future world we would no longer need the phrase inclusive learning design because it exists everywhere. Step 1: all senior managers cajoled/instructed/persuaded to do it and then they insist that everything they receive must model it! Now to take the tablets .....

#LTHEchat A2 My eureka moment was discovering styles in Word and other software and realising how such a simple tool made life easier for everyone

#LTHEchat A1 More importsnt then ever because basic principles ar so often ignored. Just been reading a range of wp documents/reports on different topics from different universities across the UK. None of them used styles (not even the one arguing for inclusive behaviour!)

#LTHEchat A2 Anyone ever used the 'visitor from Mars exercise) (other locations can be chosen!) Students have to formulate questions which a visitor might ask to understand the chosen teaching situation/contet. Can generate some very interesting discussion!

@lthechat.bsky.social #LTHEchat A1 Hidden Curriculum has always been there as some students have previous experience which gives them better access to and understanding of the implicit rules of the education game.

A5 #LTHEChat There used to be a lot of games and simulations around (especially in management education) which seem to have 'disappeared' and could easily fit under the 'play' banner. Shark-infested custard, anyone? Anyone?

A4 #LTHEchat You need to get students 'on your side'. Ways that have worked are joining in the activity as much as you can so that students do not feel you are just making them jump through hoops. And regularly pointing out applications/implications for the so-called 'real world'.

#LTHEchat A3 Barriers I have experienced include 'this is enjoyable - this cannot be learning because it is not serious enough' - can come from both staff and students.

A3 #LTHEchat Think we should also be directing students and staff to the critiques of GenAI as it currently exists, e.g. Helen Beetham articles on Substack; books such as 'Taming Silicon Valley' by Gary Marcus, and AI Snake Oil (Narayanan and Kapoor) Gotta longer list if anyone wants it

A1 #LTHEchat (work in progress) With Sam Saunders and Sue Beckingham - looking at the potential applications of NotebookLM which can generate a 2-person podcast from supplied documents (which could be a draft assignment). And you can now join in as a live participant. ,

A1 #LTHEchat using AI-generated images to highlight social stereotypes for discussion. No shortage of material!

#LTHEchat A2 We have to convince students that they can use feedback to their advantage. And we have to do that as soon as they join the course/programme. They may well have learned from their previous education that feedback often 'does not work'.

#LTHEchat A1 Did some work with audio feedback a few years ago. It can work very well. We have the technology but not the systems to make it easy for staff!

@lthechat.bsky.social #LTHEchat A1 There are so many alternatives once you start looking for alternatives. The obvious one is to involve students in dialogue and now we can talk to our assignments or participate in a podcast about them through the Notebook app
