Thanks to @psychmag.bsky.social for making the recording of this available online. Good inspiration to get research out to a wider audience, even if the truth still hurts (that most people aren't going to read our academic papers) 🥺

This looks like a really interesting conference. Still taking submissions. "Atypical" will cover quite range of different kinds of interactions (dementia, aphasia, autism etc), so should be of wide interest to CA researchers. liu.se/en/research/...

Did I mention that I can do remote work for clients in any country?

A few thoughts on academic civility, the paradigm ceasefire, and the challenge posed to critical social psychology by the misdiagnosis of the replicability crisis. Based on the idea that the Harré quote below would be seen as terribly poor form if uttered by a prominent social psychologist today.

"Pie and mash is not dying; it has tactically retreated." Lovely article on food memories, taste, and why sometimes it's better to let go.

Did you know there’s an entire field of scientific research dedicated to exploring how humans get things done through social interaction? Interaction is at the centre of human sociality and conversation analysts systematically examine how this works in the wild. #emca

Just when I thought an app couldn't get any better, this one just delivered big time. Reduce food waste? I'm in. Give me a bag of fancy cakes for a fraction of the original cost? Heck, yeah. Just doing my bit, of course. Assuming I get to the bag before the kids see it. www.toogoodtogo.com

3 weeks to go to CA day! Just about the right length of time needed to properly panic about the paper I promised to present. Past me must have had greater insight than I seem to have now. Still, at least there will be cakes. darg.lboro.ac.uk/event/ca-day...

It's November. It's dark. We don't need another reason. As a voracious writer of lists, it's always a good idea to add something just for ourselves. ...or to heck with the list and just eat some chocolate 🍫

Feeling inspired after a research visit to @vuamsterdam.bsky.social to discuss all things eating and interaction with scholars across the disciplines. Not sure what the SW denoted, but I'm taking that as a sign (!) that I was welcome. I'll be back for more stroopwafels...

Free philosophy lecture (to be streamed online) and open to the public. Super interesting questions to be raised: 'what are our collective (academic) aims?' 'What is all this theorising for?'

Excellent description of DP here in a really accessible and engaging blog post, thanks @drsimonstewart.bsky.social!
