In Missouri, overturning the will of voters has almost become the legislature’s main business. Lawmakers wasted no time moving to undo a constitutional amendment that legalized abortion up to fetal viability. By @jeremykohler.bsky.social‬

If you're just getting to know Sen. Joni Ernst, you might want to read this @propublica.org piece from March:

When a homeless man questioned the Phoenix police’s authority to stop him in Feb. 2020, an officer knelt on his neck while another shocked him with a Taser. Another unhoused man said officers threw away his things, telling him, “You guys are trash and this is trash.”

RFK Jr. says the CDC will no longer recommend COVID vaccines for healthy pregnant women. Yet doctors have found that stillbirths can result from COVID directly infiltrating the placenta — even for people whose COVID symptoms were mild or nonexistent. @deldeib.bsky.social‬'s story from 2022:

Elon Musk may be stepping back from the government, but we’re not done reporting on the impact of his DOGE wrecking ball. If you have information to share with us, we want to hear from you. ➡️ propublica.org/tips

The government's own data indicates they knew their assertions that all these men were the 'worst of the worst' was untrue. Great reporting by a team at @propublica.org www.propublica.org/article/trum...

James' parents had no idea the threat assessment even existed until I told them about it, more than a week after it took place. No one from the school notified them of it or interviewed them for it — which is not recommended by experts.

In the wake of ballot measures that increased abortion access and improved sick leave for workers, a coordinated effort is unfolding in GOP-run legislatures across the country to restrict direct democracy — and shift power to partisan legislatures. @jeremykohler.bsky.social
