Oh. "This is about whether we have functional constitutional government in this country. If the IRS can go after you because of what you think or what you believe or what you do, we'd no longer live in a free country.“

Trump, the so-called dealmaker, now wants to delay Medicare from negotiating drug prices. Eli Lilly charges Americans $1,080 for the diabetes drug Mounjaro when the same drug can be purchased for $200 in Japan and $520 in the U.K. Is this what Trump means by America First?

Duffy on the shortage of air traffic controllers: "We have too many controllers that retire after 25 years of service. And so we have to look and go, is this a national security issue? Is this a safety issue? And should these air traffic controllers be retiring after 25 years of service?"

Harvard standing up to Trump is a big deal and the Trump admin is acting like it. Harvard has resources, and others will follow their lead (in either direction). As @gregsargent.bsky.social and @jonathanfriedman.com argue, stop buying that Team Trump wants every fight. They want weak acquiescence.

If law professors are unwilling to stand up for the rule of law and the most basic principles at the core of our constitutional order as sacrosanct, there is no point in teaching constitutionalism in law schools at all.

Steve Kerr: "I believe in academic freedom. I think it's crucial for all of our institutions to be able to handle their own business the way they want to. And they should not be shaken down and told what to teach, what to say, by our government. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

Happening right in front of us

Jonathan Swan, of the NYT, asks Ms Leavitt (all paraphrased) "The President said that it was a terrible abuse of power for the prior Admin to prosecute him. How is it not then an abuse of power when he directed his own DOJ to investigate two people he doesn't like?" Leavitt: "That's his policy."

REPORTER: There are laws on the book that make it a criminal offense to harbor illegal immigrants, like sanctuary state leaders have been doing. Do you think they should be prosecuted and possibly put in prison? HOMAN: Absolutely. And hold tight on that one, because it's coming.

File impeachment articles that are just direct quotes from the Declaration of Independence

1/4. On the White House’s theory, if they abduct you, get you on a helicopter, get to international waters, shoot you in the head, and drop your corpse into the ocean, that is legal, because it is the conduct of foreign affairs.

Is this administration so weak that Donald Trump and JD Vance can’t ask El Salvador to return someone they deported in error & have confidence El Salvador will honor their request? That would be a shocking fall in status for the United States.

Know your disaster history! The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire in 1911 opened the policy window for the labor movement to persuade New York progressives to pass a fire code that still keeps you alive today.

Coinciding with it's "No" letter Harvard has refashioned its university homepage into essentially an advertisement for the social benefits of university research. This is the current front page.

They’ll pressure a NATO ally to release a sex trafficker and racketeer but they won’t pressure a tiny dictatorship to return a man it’s holding on our behalf, who they admit they sent there by accident

Putin is proud

COLLINS: Can President Bukele weigh in on this? Do you plan to return Garcia? BUKELE: How can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States? Of course I'm not going to do it. The question is preposterous TRUMP: These are sick people

Here's Trump saying to Bukele that "homegrown criminals are next" and talking about how El Salvador will need to build "about five more places."

“Totalitarianism in power invariably replaces all first-rate talents, regardless of their sympathies, with those crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is still the best guarantee of their loyalty.” - Hannah Arendt

Oh look. Another bribery and extortion scheme.

“According to an email obtained by The New York Times, H.H.S. intends to revise its web pages to include statements like ‘The decision to vaccinate is a personal one’ and ‘People should also be informed about the potential adverse events associated with vaccines’” www.nytimes.com/2025/04/13/h...

An ominous effort to overturn a decided election on dubious grounds. A playbook for 2026 and 2028 if it is not stopped.

"If universities are not willing to stand up for the free speech and academic freedom of their students and faculty, then what, if any, values do they stand for?"

Just in case those of us fighting for democracy in court didn't need another challenge, Big Law turning collaborators is here and growing. My firm and others continue to fight. We will never back down. We will never bend a knee. We will never obey.

Two weeks ago I did a thread on how the Founding Fathers declared independence from the crown for behaving literally the same way as the Trump administration. It's getting worse and Americans need to connect today's events to this founding document.

Astonishing RFK Jr interview with NBC. At 23.30 he claims pharmaceuticals are the 3rd leading cause of death in the US [wtf]. He discloses the name & medical history of the 2nd child to die of measles, implies she wasn't healthy & argues about her cause of death. @gorskon.bsky.social

Russia bombs Christians celebrating Palm Sunday, killing at least 20 people, including kids, while MAGA and the rest of Putin’s sympathizers/apologists in the West advocate helping him win because Russia is a victim acting in self-defense and upholding traditional Christianity, do I have that right?
