It was a busy week for Charlotte North. From hordes of young autograph seekers that resulted in the Fire Marshall being called, to helping Boston Guard win the first WLL championship, to appearing on SportsCenter, North was everywhere. My feature for the PLL: pll.gg/xnX5yCB2aRb

The California Redwoods re-signed Romar Dennis. Led the league in two-pointers last year. He’s a guy St. Laurent worked hard for several years to acquire. Not surprising he’d work to keep him for a couple more seasons.

When my students are turned around and talking, out of their seats, or any other weird thing they do in chairs, I tell them to sit in their chair they way Alfred W. Chair designed it. I tell them he’s who invented the chair. In 10 years, no one has challenged me on that fact. 😆

Charlotte North, Andie Aldave, & Courtney Taylor have gone up against each other numerous times. Today, they won the inaugural WLL Championship Series title. Together. “I know being on their team is pretty freaking awesome.” My story for USA Lacrosse Magazine: www.usalacrosse.com/magazine/pro...

The Boston Cannons were battered and bruised. Marcus Holman could hardly walk. Matt Campbell couldn't move his arm. The skin was ripped off Ethan Ralls' feet. Bubba Fairman's shoulder was falling off. The Cannons still found a way to win. My story for USA Lacrosse Magazine: tinyurl.com/4jz56fhc

Heading into the playoffs, the Golden Stick Award standings are filled with the usual suspects except for one unexpected underdog. My story for the Premier Lacrosse League: pll.gg/OXlMZkFn2Qb

Watching “The Little Mermaid” with the girl this morning. You know you’re a dad when you empathize with King Triton and not Ariel.

The autograph line for Emily Hawryschuk and Madison Doucette just keeps going.

Oh she's BACK back. First two Charging goals of the night go to Kylie Ohlmiller. (🎨: @joekeegs.bsky.social)

The Takeaway Check, Issue #53: The WLL has been a model example of why representation matters, catching the attention of so many young girls (including mine) as well as young boys, too. open.substack.com/pub/takeaway...

Love how you can see members of the Boston Guard watching the Cannons before their game at 9. Like the boys & girls teams cheering the other on in high school.

On making the switch in goal and evaluating Will Mark tonight, Jim Stagnitta said the Whipsnakes are dealing with the retirement of a goalie, so they’ll have a position to fill.

The PLL has announced its Friday games will start one hour earlier than previously advertised. Charging vs Palms at 6PM Eastern, Atlas vs Archers at 8. All games still on ESPN+

My first article for the PLL is live. After every team played its first game in the Championship Series, the players at the top of the standings for the Golden Stick Award all got there in different ways. premierlacrosseleague.com/articles/pll...

Ryan Boyle when Mason Woodward drops a pass wide open on the crease: “Sometimes, you’re open for a reason.” Apparently, Ryan Boyle chose violence today!

Also, a lot of people aren’t as familiar with Isabella Peterson as they are with other names, but she was a popular pick in Athletes Unlimited this past summer. Like we’ve seen with Asher Nolting, Dylan Molloy, & Myles Jones, her size, strength, & physicality are going to be big!

I want to get this in before the WLL game tonight. I think people are looking past the Palms. A lot of talent that has won a lot of big games with UNC & Team USA. Also, they have maybe the best goalie in Taylor Moreno, which plays a huge role in Sixes.

The San Diego Seals have signed Pat Kavanagh to a two year agreement and have placed him on the Physically Unable to Perform List.

Turned on the @wlacrosseleague while my daughter sat on my lap. In a mix of surprise and excitement, she said, “Daddy, are those girls playing?” Moments like this matter, and hopefully, there are more to come. Cheers!

Championship Series is seriously almost here so get those Champion & Golden Stick predictions in ASAP or keep em to yourself because nobody's trying to hear how you "thought it would happen" & "knew it all along" this time next week

FYI if you're planning to watch the Championship Series on TV - Springfield, VA is under a winter storm watch right now, so don't be surprised to see some empty stands at the St James tonight. We're not Upstate NY, this place will Shut. Down.

One time for the late night crew, the WLL Championship Series begins Tuesday night - prepare yourself accordingly with my preview for @insidelacrosse.bsky.social. www.insidelacrosse.com/article/2025...

Loving the images from today's open media practices from Rosie. A little envious I couldn't make it work, but living vicariously through him today.

The Taylor Swift effect on the NFL is real. This was my three-year-old daughter the entire first quarter: “Taylor hasn’t come out” “Daddy, where’s Taylor?”

WLL jerseys just dropped

The Takeaway Check, Issue #52: I’ll be covering NCAA Division 3 women’s lacrosse for USA Lacrosse Magazine, which I’m really excited about. It also had me thinking about my experiences playing Division 3. open.substack.com/pub/takeaway...

There are a lot of indicators an interview an interview is going well, but spending five minutes talking about pizza and bagels might be my favorite. Great interview in the books for a USA Lacrosse Magazine feature coming in the near future!

Cool to see a portion of this week’s LacroCity newsletter being used in a presentation at the New England Lacrosse Convention.

Matt Vinc became the 1st NLL goalie with 16,000 career minutes. I graduated high school & college, moved, went back to school to get my teaching cert, got a full time job, got engaged & married, was a beat writer for 2 NLL teams that no longer exist, got a dog & house, & had two kids in this time.

The Takeaway Check, Issue #51: Buffalo might be sad the Bills lost, but a trip to Banditland might make those fans much happier. open.substack.com/pub/takeaway...

Six Nations Chiefs have announced they've acquired the rights to Graeme Hossack and Dawson Theede for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Something Archers fans will definitely be interested to hear.

The Takeaway Check, Issue #50: Unrivaled, a 3x3 pro basketball league started by Breanna Stewart & Napheesa Collier, has taken some pages from the blueprint created by Paul Rabil & the PLL. open.substack.com/pub/takeaway...

Dan has full rosters in one place:

WLL rolling out rosters for debut in the Championship Series. First peek comes through clips of team Zoom calls.

Be it sports, culture or politics (but especially politics), independent journalists are absolutely crushing it right now on their respective substacks, mediums & whatever else they post on. Get out there and give them your clicks etc

One day I’ll get to visit Banditland. Until then, I enjoyed living vicariously through Dan. Read and enjoy!

The Takeaway Check, Issue #49: My son participated in a Diaper Derby crawling contest. It’s a fun story we will tell for years, but it also told a poignant lesson. I wrote about the experience. open.substack.com/pub/takeaway...

I told my three-year-old to bring me her boots so we could play outside in the snow. She looked at me and said, “You’re stressing me out.”

The Takeaway Check, Issue #48: The latest trend in sports cards has collectors cutting up their jersey cards to reveal a swatch that doesn’t match the athlete on the card. Meanwhile, the PLL relic cards did something collectors hopes get replicated in the future. open.substack.com/pub/takeaway...

Dyson Williams of the Albany FireWolves in the National Lacrosse League. Dyson, always playing for & honoring his brother Tucker Williams.

The PLL Championship Series rosters dropped this morning. Naturally, I have thoughts. www.insidelacrosse.com/article/2025...

Initial takeaways from PLL Championship Series rosters: *Steven Brooks gets another HC opportunity (w/ a vacancy in the league). *Excited to see Ament (finally), Dickson, Carpenter, & Malone make their Champ Series debuts. *Surprised no Brandau *Happy to see Manny rostered

The rosters for the PLL Championship Series this year are out. You may notice there are 13 players now, not 12. Per the PLL, teams now get an extra reserve player to aid with rest and recovery. Game day rosters will still have 12 players.
