June 4, 1838: In a farmer's field in Beachville, Upper Canada (Ontario), the first recorded baseball game in North American history was played. It involved a ball made from twisted yarn covered in calf skin. The baseball bat was a cedar branch.

June 2, 1866: The Battle of Ridgeway was fought between Canadian troops and the Fenians. This was the largest battle of the Fenian Raids, and the first modern industrial-era battle fought by Canadians. A Fenian victory, it was also the last battle fought within Ontario against a foreign invasion.
