True story: I still can't wrap my head around the lapsteel well enough to improvise with it. Anything I do with it needs to be worked out well in advance. It's a different way of thinking when you can't actually fret notes. #musicSky #lapsteel

thank you for sharing! It is indeed Bandcamp Friday. Today bandcamp waives all fees and proceeds go directly to artists. Consider purchasing this track in uncompressed format today (and/or share on your feeds. Every little bit helps).

Anyone here play a Bass VI? It's such a cool instrument, but I feel like after people buy one they're never quite sure what to do with it. I've used it to double bass lines to give stuff more of an attack, but I feel like there's a lot of solo potential there.

I think the fictionalized romantic potential of the roadside attraction and dusty rest stop has not been appropriately exploited in pop-culture yet and that's sad.

I just learned that Poison Ivy of The Cramps was born in 1953. It makes her musical output even more impressive than it already was knowing that she was so ahead of her time. The Cramps aren't unknown, but their historical significance has a tendency to be overlooked or downplayed.

If you've ever bought digital books on Amazon, now would be a good time to download backup copies for your personal archive. They'll be discontinuing the ability to download e-books on Feb 26th and everything will have to be done through their ecosystem. #bookSky 🧵 Here's how to do it:

Mermaid On The Rocks pulpcovers.com/mermaid-on-t... # Covers, Babes, Diver, Mike Shayne, Mystery, Painting, Paperback, Robert McGinnis, Temptress

Been learning new notation software and have been putting together little infographics and worksheets as practice. Here's a chart simplifying 3 string triads for the top 4 strings on guitar and bass VI. Useful for arrangements, but also builds a solid foundation for more advanced concepts. #guitar

Runaway - Del Shannon (1961) youtu.be/veRHPL9xFpY #sleazyGrooves #nowPlaying #nowSpinning #musicSky That reverb drenched transistor organ solo is SO iconic. There's a Shannon & the Clams cover of this song that is also awesome, but I had to post the original first.
