Wall Street bets discord is so goddamn funny right now

Okay, I wrote a longer thing about @durbin.senate.gov, @amyklobuchar.com, @klobuchar.senate.gov, @whitehouse.senate.gov, @blumenthal.senate.gov apparently wanting to hand Donald Trump a huge weapon with which to censor online speech. www.techdirt.com/2025/03/21/d...

Apparently this needs to be very, very clear: Canadians are polite, not stupid. Tesla reported 8,600 sales in 3 days, claiming $43 million in rebates. A single Toronto dealership listed 1,200 sales in a DAY. 🙄 www.ctvnews.ca/video/2025/0... The lies aren’t even plausible.

This is you.

For my latest edition of @bloomberg.com Buying Power, I wrote about the enormous economic and societal risks that come along with this week’s news that the richest 10% of Americans now do fully half of the country’s consumer spending. Gift link: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

// DS9 theme, but it's coming from DS9. Another great one but @auralnauts-craven.bsky.social

I just realized that A Quiet Place (2018) is Mars Attacks! (1996) but in a serious way. 😂

They found a way to litter from space

Woke up & my first thought was: Why would Skynet take the time/effort to polish all of its robots before sending them into battle? Why would we create such a vain and wasteful AI? Who would... Oh, shit.

This is hilarious... I bought an MSI X870 Tomahawk thinking it would be perfect from a PCIe lane layout & NVMe standpoint It is, except the PCIe power connector intrudes on bottom PCIe slot. So I put in a reverse 90. Now my video card doesn't fit. That NVMe is my Steam library. Games or video card

I'm going to get a jump on this by sharing this gift link to my bit about what I saw at the Consumer Electronics Show, what I learned from the Tesla Hyperloop, and the dumb, dull, demeaning future big tech types want the rest of us to settle for: defector.com/the-future-i...

Predictably, RTX 5090s sold out immediately this morning. I think I was "in line" on the Best Buy site for maybe 6 minutes before it booted me and displayed the cards as out of stock. Honestly, can we stop this retail rush nonsense? Just let me place an order and ship it whenever it's available.

As someone who has reported on AI for 7 years and covered China tech as well, I think the biggest lesson to be drawn from DeepSeek is the huge cracks it illustrates with the current dominant paradigm of AI development. A long thread. 1/

The game I have been designing ships for has finally been named as "C-Beams"! Check the reveal teaser trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y8n...

Cleaning the kitchen this morning and found a blast from the past: an AMD Athlon 64 IHS! Based on the markings, it's from one of the several 3000+ models I delidded 20 years ago.

this electrical transmission tower has a little problem. can you spot it? actually, it's not a small problem--it cost us 16.65 *billion* dollars and caused the deaths of 85 people.

I'm actually a little disappointed I'm not at CES this year... so many missed opportunities for relentless mocking.

As a Part 107 drone pilot, I feel like this should be shouted loudly for the dipshits in the back: DO NOT FLY YOUR DRONES NEAR FIRES! Even if there isn't a TFR in place, stay the fuck away! Your drone being near the fire can halt firefighting air ops., damage, or even destroy crewed aircraft!

Well, someone in LA County hit the wrong button and just blasted some percentage of the Antelope Valley with an 'extreme fire danger, evacuate immediately' emergency alert over the cell networks. There isn't a single fire anywhere near here...
