@gfriday.bsky.social excellent call

Random Tupac thought: it's funny how much "California Love" is so dependent on Dayton, OH. It's straight Dayton Funk with Roger Troutman on the talk box. It's one of the most NE Ohio songs, but he endlessly calls out California shit. This is Akron shit.

It's Sunday night. I'm lying in bed, listening to house music and thinking about my childhood piano teacher. She was a weird old lady who lived a block away. I wonder if we could have bonded over Marshall Jefferson. He was awesome at piano. I don't think she'd like DJ Pierre....

@trick-g.bsky.social a propos of very little beyond the fact that in currently listening to it and think you'd like it, have you ever heard this track? It's worth yr time. The piano is amazing. And then the vocals. youtu.be/1GLJ7-SO4Ag?...

"There was once a special book/it got changed by fascist crooks...the Roman empire never died/it became the catholic church" youtu.be/ad4n8Vayuqs?...

I wrote about the brilliant pedal steel guitarist Susan Alcorn, who passed away last week, for the Baltimore Banner: www.thebaltimorebanner.com/culture/musi...

I made goofy business cards and have carried them with me for 13 years precisely to help deal with this sense of inadequacy. I don't know, I'm just some guy. I guess I'm a "General Enthusiast". That's my real phone number.

National Harbor is the most depressing shithole. It is as far from DC as Baltimore is by public transit, but it pretends to be DC. I think that's a good example of the ways in which it just sucks. A weird simulacrum of a place. Like Disney World without rides or anything good.

I love being in a comfortable place where I can see people I know, not saying a word to anyone, and doing a crossword puzzle.

When I think I love Sonic Youth too much, I then listen to more Sonic Youth and realize they're even better and that's why I know like 5 guys (yeah, we're all guys) who are bigger Sonic Youth guys than I.

I'm OK with my decision to avoid planes years ago. A train is the best way to travel.

The least useful adjective that is most aggressively used is definitely "iconic". What the fuck are you trying to express here? Lots of things/people are icons of different groups of people for different reasons. It's weird.
