I don't like honoring harsh horse trainers with the title "traditional". Spurs and treats, bits and brushes, have been used for thousands of years, sometimes by the same riders like Xenophon, even though the precise science is recent. I think I find "discipline" or "dominance" based more accurate.

I think my biggest fundamental disagreement with most discipline based horse trainers is that I do not want horses I handle associating pressure with fear because that causes them to escalate when they fear pressure. I want pressure to be solely associated with the behavior.
