1. LLM-generated code tries to run code from online software packages. Which is normal but 2. The packages don’t exist. Which would normally cause an error but 3. Nefarious people have made malware under the package names that LLMs make up most often. So 4. Now the LLM code points to malware.

Funk Music in Popular Culture Conference at Bowling Green State University is free and open to the public, April 25-26. bgsu.edu/funkmusic I’m honored to be one of the selected scholars/speakers. There will also be a screening of the new documentary ‘We Want the Funk’ and keynote by Doug Wimbish.

Been writing about how much Bill Maher sucks since 2017, and it had already been true for twenty years. hazlitt.net/feature/your...

If an administration can get away with falsifying social security records to target individuals, then there is no bottom. There's also no such thing as a "citizen" because that can be changed with a couple button presses too. Mark your SSN and passport as dead then ship you to El Salvador.

🚨A sweeping crackdown on posts on Instagram and Facebook that are critical of Israel—or even vaguely supportive of Palestinians—was directly orchestrated by the government of Israel, according to internal Meta data obtained by @dropsitenews.com www.dropsitenews.com/p/leaked-dat...

Awwwwwww shit!

When I'm reading a really good zine

Really just out of the appropriate expletives at this point

It is a campaign of erasure: the systematic extermination of an occupied people, not for defense, but annihilation. Every man woman & child is marked for death or exile, every home, school, hospital reduced to ash. Now, even shedding a tear for this horror has become a crime in the land of the free.

I couldn't attend because my wife is sick, but most Jews I know in the US had a Passover seder tonight and rightly appreciated the commemoration of people being freed from bondage. I guess behaving like genocidal fucking maniacs for the 553rd day in a row is also an option. Chag pesach sameach.

Repost with an image of your favorite James Bond (wrong answers only)

us government went from telling miners “learn to code” to telling coders “learn to mine” in less than ten years

Incredible dramatic arc - 9 years in the making - in the comments section of an article about the Electric Village venue in the East Village (late 60s).

I understand the situation people are in. I really do. But we have to be real about what is happening - both to the climate and our country.

They’ll do it in a few high profile cases to set examples. People will say, “No way this holds up in court.” Maybe. But we now know the plan: they’ll do it first, then dare the courts to stop them. And this too will be very difficult for courts to undo. This is end of democracy stuff.

Cool bonnet bro

They’re gonna destroy anything worthwhile in this country. We’re frankly all pathetic cowards for not stopping them.

Just reluctantly heard a clip of a Benson Boone song from Coachella that sounds like the music in the credits of a low budget 80s BMX movie. Not my thing but you do you.

Screened the first episode of the 2023 PBS Disco documentary for my pop music class today and it’s a really great. I never show things in class I haven’t seen before (or maybe seen 50 times) but seemed like decent bet and it was.
