one other way to think of this is that it is a massive program of upwards redistribution to wealthy business owners who can skimp on worker, consumer and environmental safety to juice profits for themselves www.nytimes.com/2025/04/15/u...

On this day, April 14, 2025, the President of the United States openly defied the Supreme Court’s unanimous opinion of April 10, 2025, ordering him to “facilitate Abrego Garcia’s release from custody in El Salvador

The US economy is set to lose billions of dollars in revenue in 2025 from a pullback in foreign tourism and boycotts of American products.

Who is going to do something? This is Kim Jong-Un shit.

The constitutional crisis is here. The President is disobeying lawful court orders. His advisors and allies are cheering him on. And Kilmar Abrego Garcia remains trapped in a jail in El Salvador. youtu.be/HGTIELDTHOo?...

Courage is contagious in the best possible way. 👏 Harvard 👏 Cornell 👏 MIT Keep going! Solidarity!

Either the U.S. government *is* able to exert monetary and diplomatic pressure on El Salvador sufficient to produce Abrego Garcia’s release, or it isn’t. The latter would be either a bald-faced lie or a pretty stunning concession of our national impotence. The Vice President should pick one.

1/4. On the White House’s theory, if they abduct you, get you on a helicopter, get to international waters, shoot you in the head, and drop your corpse into the ocean, that is legal, because it is the conduct of foreign affairs.

AOC: We saw Majorie Taylor Greene buy that dip. How much did you make? How much did you make off of people’s despair? How much did you make off of that panic? How much did you make off of that suffering? No more. We can’t accept it

“In Russia, dissent can cost critics their business licences, liberty and even their lives. It seems a matter of time before other less besieged western legal systems hear petitions by US citizens for asylum.”

What do you know, President Trump is lockstep with a foreign dictator on detaining, shackling and deporting Trump’s deportee without any Due Process. Trump must follow the Supreme Court’s order to facilitate the return of their illegal prisoner.

AOC: I was watching earlier today on TV, someone was saying, “Why are AOC and Bernie going to Idaho?” I’ll give you one simple answer: It’s because you matter

An excerpt from the nyt report on the medical exam of Trump. Two points. 1, The description of him having a good heart is obviously meant literally not metaphorically. 2, The mention of the benign polyp seems like an unnecessary criticism to me of his vice president.

I haven’t watched Bill Maher in many years because he’s a piece of shit unfunny propagandist who normalizes the orange felon and sells himself for his approval. Fuck him and his pathetic bootlicking.

One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind. An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one." The other said, "Take him anyway." So they did.

Oh look. Another bribery and extortion scheme.

The president told a Central American dictator to build five more massive slave labor camps to hold US citizens.

The lies Pam Bondi and Stephen Miller just told about Abrego Garcia on national TV... ...I have no words for them. I am sick of calling things obscene or deranged. These are obviously evil people charting an obviously evil course for our country. The idea of Hell was devised for people like this.

They continue to violate a court order to retrieve someone they illegally deported. We’re now well beyond a constitutional crisis. If they’re allowed to do this, their secret police can sweep up anyone, for any reason, deport them & refuse to bring them back. That would be the end of democracy.

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

So, Trump's constant and ever-changing interventions into the domestic and global economies aren't good policy?

This is Winston Smith’s job in “1984.”

No administration in American history, not Jackson w/ Indian removal, not Lincoln in Merryman, not FDR over the New Deal, not Truman in Youngstown, not Nixon over the tapes, not Bush with Guantanamo, has openly defied a court order like this, much less one unanimously endorsed by the Supreme Court.

I keep puzzling over how Rubio thinks it'll bring PROSPERITY to kidnap gay hairdressers based on their tattoos & then pay $20K/year to detain them in a slave camp. We could have spent that $6M on supporting trade with Congo instead, but Rubio has decided torture is better for profits?

Never Forget…..

Sounds about right.
