I'm waiting for the deeply reported piece on how General Dynamics and Lockheed feel about their international sales being jeopardized by Trump treating planes like a Kindle membership. [fixed]

"The Jews are behind the drug trade and prostitution." Never heard that one before.

Unless you are actively poisoning them with hatred from the cradle most kids will, albeit a bit clumsily, say something like "why are you like that" to a "different" classmate, and then get over it and say "do you play video games?" (or whatever).

Our school district’s superintendent sent a message out to parents today, showing a small sample of the hateful messages she and the other board members have gotten recently after deciding to allow a book in a school library that features a gay pride parade. It’s hatred. No need to overthink it.

“Perhaps no other federal entity facilitates greater economic and commercial activity than NOAA and its data sources”

You can have the cops come beat the shit out of your students to prove you’re not a filthy commie and they’ll still do this to you and all you’ll have done is show everyone what a pathetic little coward you are. Might as well do the right thing the first time

Playbook | Sources report that instead of a chainsaw-style approach, the next round of DOGE cuts will be surgically focused on agencies that regulate Elon Musk's companies or try to collect his taxes.

In this Ohio diner, a booster still means the wealthy alum who forces Ohio State to admit a defensive end with a 1.6 GPA. But they do know this: The faulty SpaceX rocket parts were definitely made by a woman or a minority.

This is a great thread. My only quibble is that space is really hard. But as Tanya says- we have a lot of hard fought and hard won expertise both about how to do it and how to make sure we are doing it well. That’s people. (1/?)

I’d like to announce my forthcoming US history book, covering a decisive but tumultuous era in that country’s history, titled “The trade policies of the United States: 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on Friday, March 7, 2025” It will be 400 pages.

NEW: I helped Brian Krebs trace the background of one of Elon Musk's top loyalists, Branden Spikes, head of IT at X, who spent 2 mo at DOGE. Spikes and his ex-wife were involved with Russian diaspora websites and groups linked to pro-Kremlin KSORS players, Russian state media while he was at SpaceX.

Oh surprise, he doesn't know anything and won't listen to people who do know something. wapo.st/4bvtuPC

Kingsley Wilson, the newly-appointed DoD Deputy Press Secretary, believes in a thoroughly-debunked antisemitic conspiracy theory. I've mostly only seen this theory promoted by mask-off neo-Nazis. archive.is/dPvse

Oh my. Each graf worse than the one before www.nytimes.com/2025/03/07/u...

If anyone in the DoD did even a single one of the moronic things DOGE has done, let alone all of them, the govt would strip their clearance, chop their body into 100 pieces, and sentence each piece to 20 years in Leavenworth.

Looking at the effects social media has had on *gestures at everything* I am beginning to think the Luddites had a point She thought to herself while continuing to doomscroll

This one’s for all the university admins complying in advance: there is another way.

"America voted for a guy they thought would deregulate the economy and fix inflation — a modern-day Reagan. Instead they got a dime-store Mao, who would be happy to impoverish his nation just to see it be less reliant on the rest of the world." www.noahpinion.blog/p/trump-take...

Jeff Foxworthy used to say: "southerners are as smart as anybody else in this country Our only problem is we just can't keep the most ignorant amongst us off the television." Albertans, too. www.foxnews.com/video/636967...

We will never know— we will never have the faintest idea— how much money is getting made in insider trading windfalls from people in Trump's and Musk's circles who have an hour of notice about the daily swings in tariff policy or the occasional announced *expectations* of such swings.

Judge Beryl Howell: "The President's interpretation of the scope of his constitutional power— or, more aptly, his aspiration—is flat wrong."

This is what weak, flailing leadership looks like. His inability to make meaningful change in areas like this explains the desperate, authoritarian bluster of his largely illegal Executive Orders. This is the sort of leader who opposing politicians should definitely NOT cater to.

It is extra insane that after two days we have decided pressing the "higher car prices" button is too much but are continuing to press the "higher gas prices" button

One way to think about this administration is: Trump's last full year in office was a global pandemic with no known cure that filled hospitals with dying patients and shut down the entire in-person economy. And firms think the current business environment has *more* uncertainty.

Spotted somewhere in Calgary, Canada. “There is no enemy like a friend betrayed”

This is going to be a big problem for the CPC in the next election. I'd suggest all the "don't know enough about him" responses are shy Trump supporters, which means one-third of CPC voters like Trump. The more Poilievre criticizes them, the more likely they are to vote PPC. And he knows this.

NOW we're talking!

The idea the president alone can levy taxes on a whim and spend it as he pleases without any congressional approval is the kind of thing so beyond the pale it's not unconstitutional, it's anti-constitutional. It is overturning in starkest terms the central rallying cry of the American Revolution.

I swear, their last words before the firing squad will be "I'm going to draft an EXTREMELY stern letter about this..."

Visiting the immense Canadian cemetery at Beny-sur-Mer changed how I saw the world. It made me understand the immense the sacrifice to free the world from fascism. I made a promise in that cemetery that I would keep faith with our youth who died to fight for democracy. substack.com/home/post/p-...

In 1890, the Tariff Act came into place in the United States. It placed tariffs on imports of up to 50%. While touted as a way to build American industry, there was also the hope it would force an annexation of Canada. It backfired. Let's learn more. 🧵1/10

The world has changed and Canada needs to be ready. Every Canadian has an important role to play. My thoughts on following Sweden’s lead and re-establishing universal civil defence training thetyee.ca/Opinion/2025...

This new complaint against DOGE is truly cranked up to 11 from start to finish. What a way to start a lawsuit storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us... h/t @mikesacks.bsky.social

White House Press Secretary just said: "Through the northern border and Canada, last fiscal year alone, there was enough fentanyl seized to kill 4.8bn people" With "potentially lethal" 2mg dose, that's 21k lbs That's the total seized by US in 2024—at the southern border North was a sliver of that

BREAKING — FEMA Acting Chief Counsel Joshua Stanton has been put on administrative leave & walked out of the building after being given the role *just last week*, an agency source tells me. Previous chief counsel Adrian Sevier had been with FEMA since 2000 and was office's longest-serving chief.

"There isn’t some 22-year-old putting together a 'Most Defiant Moments At The State Of The Union' listicle this morning. Twenty-two-year-olds don’t have jobs anymore."

This is a wildly dangerous sign — the idea that there are only five SCOTUS votes for paying congressionally mandated invoices for work *already* done!? This should be as basic a test of Article I as you can get. And that does not bode well for decisions to come.

ICYMI: We identified the operator of one of an anonymous Hitler-quoting self-described ‘Aryan' that is followed by Vice President JD Vance. His name is Geoff Martin, and his father is the president of Trinity Western University, a private Christian college in Canada.
