Sweet play by Quincy Williams (56) here. Good mechanics to engage the block near foot/shoulder to keep his outside arm free. 33" arms help him finish the job and rip the RB down.

Doing some offseason buy/sell discussions on the show over the next month. First up: teams in transition (aka teams who just picked high in the draft). A few easy calls with one or two confounding teams mixed in there. Also fascinated by NYG's timeline. Full ep: podfollow.com/the-athletic...

might cry a little

It's another Mailbag Monday on The Athletic Football Show, and we celebrated with some real offseason nonsense. Which is higher: The number of QBs who could keep the Eagles a contender or the number of teams Mahomes would MAKE a contender? Full show: pod.fo/e/2d0c8d

seriously look forward to recording the mailbag episode every Friday. just wrapped up another one and can’t wait for it to drop on Monday. you guys kill it every week with the questions

Jermaine Johnson (11) sending George Kittle into the backfield on his way to the RB

Textbook from Quincy Williams (56). Stacks the RB, stays patient for the break, then attacks. Great job fighting thru the RB's back for the ball

Deommodore Lenoir (2) showing off his quick hips and closing speed. Helps that the throw never gave the WR a chance

motion gets Fred Warner (54) to bump away from the play and he still races to get over the top of the C and cut the play off. ridiculous athlete

If your favorite NFL team drafted a wide receiver or you're preparing for your dynasty rookie draft, I charted and wrote up 26 prospects this year for #ReceptionPerception. You'll love learning about them. Ffind all their profiles here: receptionperception.com/category/pla...

100% yes. You either have a rare commodity (elite CB) or Trevor Lawrence has one of the best WR duos in the league to throw to.

Still no overall because I just don’t think the prospect was good enough, but it does at least make 10% more sense timeline wise

It doesn’t make me much more confident, I trust what I thought about the player. At the same time, every coach is going to be obsessed with certain archetypes from time to time, and I get why MM would desperately chase anything that even halfway resembles Hamilton

Burden is fascinating. I don’t think he’s that good but more importantly I wonder if he signals that Johnson is willing (or wants to) be more spread out formationally than he was in Detroit

The closest I could get on a comp for him is Derek Carr, which, lmao. I do think he’s got some sweet velocity and flexibility in his arm, and he’s a decent processor, but we’ll know very quickly whether or not he has the stones to handle an NFL pocket and pass rush environment

They needed almost an entirely new roster for that. I don’t even really think Grant is that physical despite his size. His deal is more that he’s a pretty exciting athlete for someone that big but he’s not a brick wall like, say, Vea or Grover Stewart

I don’t disagree with that. I just thought it was two rounds too early for what I thought of him as a prospect

All I wanted them to do with this draft was try to kick ass up front again. Loved Williams; maybe the other picks were rich. Appropriate approach either way

Not quite this, but the two teams I didn’t expect to get out in front of an issue ahead of time were the Bucs at WR with Egbuka and the Lions at DT with Williams

WR room still stinks and Im probably not as optimistic that Moore is going to solve a whole lot at LT as others. Rest of the OL is more than capable though, imo. Most important thing for a young Ward is time and I think he’ll have enough back there

I think the IOL will be marginally better, which might be all they need if Hampton is who we think he is (awesome player imo). Bigger question to me is Harris .. not a huge fan but I see the vision given his size and outside ability

I’ll also exclude Dart from this for obvious reasons lol I’d say either Donovan Jackson or Jayden Higgins (because they didn’t pick Noel … which they eventually did was it was all rectified)

Love that they went after defense! Not too jazzed about any of the particular players!

This a trade you only make as a heat check. I guess the Lions have earned that but there’s no third round pick Im trading multiple other third round picks to go get

Im kind of into Mondon as a psycho LB who can be depth rn

Agree. I think they really did want the playmaker at 12, just didn’t fall that way and they know taking solid OL is a way to keep making a profit in this league. Dont blame them for that

A lot of the time this happens, it’s just taking swings on players who fell for a legitimate reason and it just happened to work. Carter is an example. Even this year, for as much as I adore Campbell, he fell because he has shoulder issues
