Politics is a strange thing - and I feel I am missing a basic nugget of education here. Why is it that on a personal level it mostly does not matter where people come from and we get along just fine - but as soon as we start building and thinking in groups (tribes, countries etc) it turns to 💩

Now seems to be a good time to attract scientific talent from the US ... Europe should get their act together and invest in such individuals.

@bsky.app - Feature suggestion: Custom sorting of content into different feeds would be nice and in a way a obvious way to prioritize content - as an alternative to the opaque algorithms used by twitter (which some call X), fb etc

Are any of the #SC24 folks considering going to #ISC25? Last year was my first time at SC and it was fantastic. I am currently preparing a proposal for a BoF around #quantumcomputing to ISC and it would be great to connect with the #HPC community in Hamburg again.

Slightly suspecting that most of my followers are bots ... Putting it to the test: If you are not a bot and you read this, please comment or like 😄

Is there anyone working on an AI to replace CEOs? Many modern LLMs would probably do a decent job, given enough context. However, I imagine they would be hard to sell :D

For some reason Don Jr.s visit to #greenland has really kept me busy (and frankly up at night). There is so much wrong with it - I could go on ranting, but what really annoys me is that the "arrogant USA" has returned to the world stage - on steroids. But I guess that is what "America fist" means

Humbled to be an invited speaker at a small conference in CPH in April covering #quantumcomputing, #quantumalgorithms and #quantum hardware. Specifically #HPC and #compchem related. Attendance is free there is impressive line-up of speakers for a small conference: eventsignup.ku.dk/conferenceon...

I am currently collecting applications of #quantumcomputing - do you have pointers to your favorite results (preferably on hardware). My bias is of course towards #compchem, but anything counts really:)

A rare kind of reindeer came by our house today

I have seen a more complete discussion about this on LinkedIn (also where Corso points to in his post): - Corso: www.linkedin.com/pulse/respon... - Pat Walters: www.linkedin.com/pulse/my-res... - Jain: www.linkedin.com/pulse/more-r... Are there any conclusions?

In #compchem applications of #quantumcomputing, IBM is currently using QSD (quantum sample diagonalization) as their workhorse. In some sense this is just encoding a wave function and then observing the frequency distribution afterwards. Why is that interesting?

I am wondering - what does Bluesky have that was not available in Mastodon? Is it only momentum and luck or something technical?

I am sometimes amazed by the diversity of human activity. For instance one moment you are writing and analyzing #quantum #algorithms and in the next you are changing diapers. Musk be a bit like running SpaceX and #Twitter

The more evidence piles up the more it looks like Grover's algorithm belongs to the category of galactic algorithms (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galacti...).

Big claim in #quantumcomputing www.linkedin.com/posts/enriqu...
