DoorDash requires all employees, up to and including the CEO, to perform at least one delivery per month as a driver to understand the product and experience. They should extend that requirement to customers too.

One thing everybody agrees on is that these protests are a GREAT opportunity to settle grudges with people whose posts you find annoying online

Honestly, goes hard

Hades Too Easy

My information theory take on AI is that researchers are doing a wonderful job minimizing D_KL(AI,language) and will continue to do so, but in practice the thing we actually care about D_KL(AI, reality), and that pesky D_KL(language, reality) term is now dominating the objective function

One key advantage Twitter has over this website is that nobody is compelled to do ponderous navel-gazing about how much it sucks or if it’s a bubble over there. We all know it’s total ass, worthless garbage slop site, now bring me more of the poison please

Excited to listen to Gavin’s next podcast episode, an interview with Mumia Abu-Jamal

Based on current capabilities and known issues with LLMs and humanoid robots, it turns out that in retrospect the most accurate depiction of actual robots in fiction was C-3PO. Lucas does it again, the absolute madman.

Mein Führer... the Venice Beach Erewhon... has already fallen.

This bar is playing a Savannah Bananas game and from what I can discern it is basically the baseball equivalent of those AI slop videos where a dog rescues a baby from a plane crash. I feel like I’m hallucinating.

So the KAG case is going to be 30 of the best defense attorneys in the country working pro bono vs. “guy at an understaffed office whose boss quit rather than take the case”, is that right?

Reiterating my statement that I would love to get paid by foreign governments to take sides on obscure foreign border disputes as an online influencer. My criteria are that it must not be at all politically salient in the US, and the sides must be reasonably evenly matched (to be sporting).

Me rn:

I’m sorry but if you haven’t reactivated your Twitter to watch one of the greatest crashouts of all time you can’t be helped

Do people even remember that that Trump campaign surrogates spent the final 24 hours of the campaign talking about Peanut the Squirrel? As soon as he won everybody started pretending he must have ran a brilliant campaign if he won the PV but it was always pure whackjob shit!

By far the most annoying trait about Twitter communists is that they are actively hostile to straightforward reasoning from their own stated ideological principles if you don’t constantly reassure them you are the exact kind of communist they are and you already agree with their policy prescriptions

Personally I enjoyed spending my time and money learning about “math”, “chemistry”, “physics”, & other things of that nature. You never see biology professors pompously insisting Academics Will Hang Separately unless law students are forced to memorize amino acids structures for their own good.

One reason I am not terribly worried about Palantir being super evil is that every single employee who got a stock award in 2022 is now a multimillionaire and many are in the $10mm+ range. The entire senior human capital base of the company wants to fuck off to their private islands and not work.

The efficient market hypothesis does not mean that the market prices are handed down from tablets on Mt. Sinai, it means that you cannot make true arbitrage profits (eg, buying the entire S&P 500 and selling a future for a different price) without taking on some kind of corresponding risk exposure
