The Edinburgh tram network is a real success. Not just in transport terms but in how it is generating redevelopment and activity along Leith Walk.

Cycling and walking now the majority of peak hour trips in the City.

One Edinburgh restaurant seems to have addressed the supreme court’s definition of women by having one toilet labelled ‘men’ and the other ‘unisex’.

Some stats from 100 days in on congestion pricing: - Complaints about car-honking are down 70% - The Holland Tunnel has 65% fewer delays at rush hour; time to get thru it is down 48% - 6 million fewer cars - Half as many traffic-related injuries - 1.5 million more visitors to BIDs year over year

The Strathspey Railway has a wonderful timetable at Aviemore. The first and last departures have reasonable connections from the south, but the other departure and all the arrivals just miss connecting trains by a few minutes meaning would be users are faced with up to 2 hour waits.

The Perth to Inverness railway also runs alongside a long distance cycle route which is generally in good condition and separate from (and more attractive) than the A9. But one or two spots force cyclists back onto the A9 when for pence (relatively) a good continuous rote could be made.

The Perth to Inverness railway runs alongside the A9 for much of its length There really is very little traffic on the A9 and for long stretches no vehicles at all. So hard to see the argument for dualling this, let alone as a priority.

Starmer seems yo be suffering from 'everyone drives a car' syndrome Has nobody told him that making motoring cheaper will just increase congestion - bad for growth - and be a further subsidy to the rich from the poor. Isn't motoring subsidised enough?

Saw Cabaret at the KitKat Club yesterday. Great performance but sobering to think how little would need to be changed to fit today’s USA.

Like ships coming through steam, the islands in Loch Ard appear through the mist.
