VPotUS is taking their bad vibes with them to Bsky.

Along with a member of his NYPD security detail. Apparently, asking for the arresting party to produce a warrant is crossing a red line that triggered his own arrest. Checks and balances continue to unravel at a break-neck pace.

As I stepped away from following the news during my recent medical leave, I finally understood why so many people don't seem concerned at all. If you aren't (yet) immediately affected, life feels pretty normal. Other than higher prices, the massive societal shifts rn are largely invisible. 1/

Mostly irrelevant but still endearing Judge Charles Breyer fact: Heโ€™s an avid bicyclist in San Francisco and attended last yearโ€™s 4 Star Theatre screening of โ€œBreaking Awayโ€ co-hosted by me & @grantmarek.bsky.social on his road bike. โš–๏ธ ๐Ÿšด ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Several of Californiaโ€™s biggest โ€” and most expensive โ€” cities are preparing to legalize single-stair buildings in advance of statewide reform. You love to see it.

The pleasure is simple, but the foresight and experience that led up to this moment are more than meets the eye.

Entertainment value aside, the interpretation and answer to this question are uniquely revealing. Gotta meet voters where they are a quarter into the 21st century. Social media campaigns - people spend time there, greater reach than in-person or broadcast TV. Don't knock it till you've tried it!

I know this is local news, but if youโ€™re watching the NYC mayoral debate, the moderators look like theyโ€™re about to lose their fucking minds and itโ€™s incredible.

NYC mayoral candidates discussing how to make the subway safer at around minute 30 mark

Did your state senator vote for SB 79, to create more housing near transit? Take a minute to call, email, or mail a note to thank them. I can tell you from experience this so rarely happens. More often electeds hear from constituents angry about votes. Thank yous are so important!

SB 79 just passed the CA State Senate with minimum required votes. A lot of senators took hard votes tonight, stood up to a lot of NIMBY pressure, to legalize housing where it matters most. Change is hard, but change CAN happen.

On #WorldBicycleDay, a look at Romeโ€™s ambitious project to create a 50-km cycle path incorporating ancient landmarks, parks and riverbanks.

Today is #WorldBicycleDay ๐Ÿšฒ Did you knowโ“ Cycle lanes count for just 0.2% of the current road infrastructure. Itโ€™s time to demand safer streets that put the health & safety of pedestrians and cyclists first ๐Ÿ‘‰bit.ly/4jPzXsa

this will be the most transformative housing bill in the history of California, and itโ€™s getting close to passing if you live in CA, call your state senator and tell them to vote YES on SB79 for the climate, for equity, for housing affordability, and for good vibes

The answer to this riddle, the common thread that explains all the "palatial" architecture away from the boarding area, is that machines โ€” turnstiles, lifts, ticketing etc. โ€” deserve 24/7 protection. This handiwork by (an) apathetic bureaucrat(s) relegates actual human users to afterthought status.

Bluesky's future been on my mind. User count grew steadily to 36 mill. and yet engagement is down โ€” daily likes peaked on 2024/11/19 @ 2.78 mill. vs. 2025/05/31 1.26 mill. likes, src: bsky.jazco.dev/stats X/Twitter is in decline (e.g. ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ), but still dwarfs Bsky (single-digit %) Genuinely concerned.

"If they did not already exist, public libraries would be an alien, outlandish proposal." In the latest for our #UBS Hub series, Liam Mullally turns to public libraries as means of epistemic freedom and spaces for everyday luxury ๐Ÿ“š

Come say hi to @metrolosangeles.bsky.social 's booth on Glendale Blvd's Open Street. Take a gander at their Electric bendy bus right by Glendale City Hall!

If you ever wanted to bike/skateboard/roller-skate down Glendale Blvd w/o cars in the way, this morning is a great time. Gonna get packed and hot later.

"Vizier leaves in disgrace with the Emperor's favorite official's wife" is a plotline I'm prepared for on a Chinese court drama, but DC?

This contrast offers a good illustration of why the term "sanewashing" was introduced.

Conservatives' view of "masculinity" is so profoundly weird, vain, and self-serving. Every time they talk about manliness, it's at best a list of easy-to-do performative nonsense like this, or more usually a litany of hostile and immature traits. What a pathetic way to define yourself.

Don Shoup's up in heaven being like, "Well, if you read my book..."

โ€œThe general idea [of Public trust doctrine] is that the public has a right to the space where water moves. ... [It] honors the nature of the ocean, rather than the demands of private property.โ€ Don't coastal property owners have a vested interest in speeding up climate change and sea-level rise? ๐Ÿค”

Until "free market" proponents can prove that companies don't always move to kill people and workers if it will make a profit, they can stick their "we need to cut red tape" takes up their arse.

๐Ÿ‘‡ where I'd rather be instead of hunting down my phone

Say hi to @metrolosangeles.bsky.social at their very first post! Excellent timing with the opening of a new bike trail and the long-awaited LAX Transit center station!

The number of journalist in this piece who draw the line at โ€œletting AI do the writingโ€ but are fine with โ€œletting AI do the thinkingโ€ makes me want to walk into the ocean. This is how you lose your edge โ€” and the war on our industry as executives try to replace us.

Plenty naรฏve to think this plan comes from a place of ignorance. (Internet's been around for 30+ yrs. Also, do they not go on business trips abroad? ๐—ก๐—ผ ๐—ฒ๐˜…๐—ฐ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ฒ๐˜€.) The only concl. left to make of this odd inefficiency is that the aim of these mobility "innovations" is to ๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ, ๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ, and ๐˜ฆ๐˜น๐˜ค๐˜ญ๐˜ถ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ.
