Wow - one of the largest coronal holes of solar cycle 25! This coronal hole has survived for over NINE MONTHS, one of the most persistent coronal holes I have ever seen. We are seeing the high speed solar wind at Earth now which may intensify in the coming days. #heliophysics

a think tank probably: "president birthday boy's tank parade was sad and massive crowds turned out to protest kings which begs the question: how do we win back the middle ground that stayed home?"

I just scored 55,764 on a game of at://2048 with a starting seed of 596398447. Think you can do better with this exact same seed? Try it out here 2048.blue/seed/596398447 @2048.blue

it's giving

twin cities is such a wonderful place really deserves better than days like this

Some thoughts about the military parade in my hometown of Washington DC today -- specifically, the route. Military parades in DC are quite rare. But when they happen, they have always begun, symbolically and geographically, at the Capitol and moved outward. 1/

An old classic, but it was observed by Hubble again back in December, so here's the processed image of that last observation! 🔭 This is the jet produced by the M87 supermassive black hole, located some 55 million light years away! HD: flic.kr/p/2rauPHp

worth considering. my only hesitation in believing that motive is these groups seem genuinely blind to the harassment and abuse existing

I was having a discussion about product design and customization earlier today. The one thing that I stressed is that the defaults should be accessible. If the user then chooses to modify the look, then so be it, that's on them. But out the gate, a product should be accessible.

"If your decentralised protocol is missing features, the market will add them with centralisation." — @goat.navy *This*: - is why why the web was captured; - is why email became concentrated; - is why ActivityPub, as defined today, isn't capture-resistant.

this is a cool project! in addition to automating offsite repo+blob backups, it has a web UI for registering PLC recovery keys (which you keep in a p/w manager, not remote service), and doing the adversarial PLC recovery process (eg, if your "old" PDS is unavailable) solid step for own-your-data

Cute how they keep inventing new names to help women not realise they’re autistic

have a hard time reading news without thinking it's the drip of a system waiting to receive how it needs to be something entirely different

ideas < execution < timing

there are far too many children who graduate into adulthood by becoming callous to what’s possible

some things are best preserved by letting them go and allowing them to be a stepping stone we moved beyond, trying to force a step live forever can guarantee it fails to serve its purpose

we have to subvert not just the things that led us here but the fantasies they’re currently selling us as the way forward

so tired of hearing people recast incompatibility as “disagreement” as tho they can exist within a reasonable shared framework
