I’ve never even considered applying for SSI longer than 10 seconds b/c I am confident it would be an expensive years-long fight to get them to accept my disability for ultimately tiny amounts of money. But I can easily foresee needing in-home care in 10-15 years. This crisis is bleak.

I don’t know that the purpose of changing the name is to protect people from shame… but WI actually has several (5+) different Medicaid programs, all with different names (e.g. MAPP, Katie Beckett, Badgercare, Family Care, IRIS and then just “Medicaid.”) But they are all Medicaid.
