Academic institutions in the US need to seriously consider how they will support and protect their minority faculty during this time. The conditions we face are already hostile for most - targeted attacks and added barriers to advancement will push many to simply walk away.

Universities will have an even harder time recruiting women and people of color (especially women of color) into administrative positions now… this whole thing is so tragic and racist. All those DEI promises made in 2020 were so empty and it’s still shocking to see how far the white backlash goes

Despite what we're saying about leadership, I repeat that we can't shrink ourselves tiny enough to please 'em. I study children's books. Me and lots of my friends have been threatened. A lot. Over BOOKS FOR KIDS. It's not the position or discipline. It's the fact we exist in these spaces at all.

If anyone is looking for a place to donate during this holiday season, I highly recommend transanta (buy.transanta.com)! They are a fantastic nonprofit that allows you to provide gifts (via registry purchase through Amazon) directly to trans youth anonymously.

So, now that GRExit is over and the GRE is gone, is your program continuing conversations about reducing bias in graduate admissions? Is there a systematic evaluation of other practices, like letters of recommendation, access to prior lab experience, weighing UG institution? If not, why not?

📣Pending final approval for funding, Aaron Blashill & I anticipate hiring a fulltime postdoctoral fellow/project director on a NIH-sponsored trial to further develop and pilot test a novel psychosocial treatment for sexual minority adults living with an eating disorder.

Are you an ESM/EMA researcher and do you want a function that can quickly calculate a within-person and between-person Cronbach's alpha? I just wrote a function in R that does exactly that and you can find it here:

Today is #BiVisibilityDay. Fellow academics, Gallup's recent poll suggests 15% of Gen Z (their definition, born 1997-2003) are bisexual. Be kind to your queer students. Bi+/pan students, you aren't alone in the academy (bi+ woman professor from Gen X here).
