A little late but -- between January storm and this week's, the National Park Service acquired a small snowplow for sidewalks and park paths. Before they were using hand shovels and a small snow blower, which may help explain why some of their property in DC was never cleared in January.

Update on 17,000 Navy Yard personnel coming in this am — seems like the biggest crush was at 5 am. By 8:30 little traffic and parking lot close to capacity but not full. Commander says people got message that “public transit is widely available and it’s less stressful”

On Inauguration duty yesterday, spoke to several Trump supporters waiting to get into watch parties. One was the descendent of undocumented immigrants; another came to the U.S. without papers 40 years ago, became a citizen by marriage in 2012. Both thought he would only deport "criminals."

Three years after 24-year-old Nina Larson was killed on Columbia Road, someone has been charged in her death. Sophia Maltas pleaded not guilty this morning to failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and reckless driving.
