Trump’s sputtering response to Harvard standing up to him is yet another reason why institutions should refuse to bend the knee. He’s a paper tiger, unable to argue his own case.

‘Other communications show that researchers worked to remove the copyright pages from the books they had downloaded.’ If you’re a writer or artist of any kind, this piece will turn your stomach. www.vanityfair.com/news/story/m...

“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.” Diary of Anne Frank January 13, 1943

“I can…assure you that were this a Republican president…targeting Democrats, I at least would speak out just as vigorously against it because if we are going to respect rule of law, the apparatus of the federal government cannot and should not be used as a partisan tool to bludgeon your enemies."

Chris is absolutely right here. If YOU shrug your shoulders and say, "well, we couldn't possibly expect the scofflaws in the Trump administration to comply, so don't have any expectations, suckers!" then YOU have given up on the rule of law.

I see a lot of people falling into the "this is pointless" trap, and I can only say it so many ways — though I suspect I will have to write something specifically about it on this front — but the bottom line is that we must expect compliance. Anything less is just making noncompliance easier.

all support to comrade *checks notes* harvard? *double-checks notes* in its struggle against the imperialist actors of the executive branch

ICE gave “misleading” and “last-minute” information to city law enforcement and has not responded to the city’s requests for more information about the violent arrest of a New Bedford immigrant this week, according to Mayor Jon Mitchell. newbedfordlight.org/ice-keeps-ma...

No! The deuce you say!

JIMMY CARTER HAD TO SELL HIS FUCKING PEANUT FARM

Dresses like a gangster….. ok, he’s dressed like every white boy I went to prep school with in New England in the early 2000s but ok.

It’s becoming disturbingly clear that a whole lotta people don’t understand what a supply chain actually is.

I think men like this should be way more afraid

“When liberalism was firmly entrenched, its discontents could treat authoritarian ideas as interesting avant-garde provocations. Authoritarianism in power, however, was always going to be crude and stupid.” FAFO www.nytimes.com/2025/04/14/o...

I see it. I have lived it. 83 years ago, the U.S. government turned upon a group of its own citizens and residents and sent them to internment camps without due process. I was there among them. American fascism is back. It is here. It is now.

Get yourself a senator willing to rescue you in a foreign country after your messy president wrongfully deports you… …seems like a sentence I shouldn’t have to write in 2025 but here we are. Senator Chris Van Hollen leaves for El Salvador tomorrow to initiate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

It seems Tesla is detecting vehicles that may have problems, and artificially running their odometers faster so the warranty expires before they have to do any service Just incredible grift

As a citizen of an imperial nation, that, with Brexit, had its own unforced implosion: I think the thing that will hurt Americans most in the end isn’t the mockery, it’s the indifference as people move on from you. “We are the world’s laughing stock!” “No. They’re not even thinking about us.”

I can't emphasize enough that the most important thing journalists can do right now is publish exactly this kind of article

Also I don’t give a shit if Abrego Garcia is a criminal. He can be the fucking king of ms13 for all I care, disappearing him to a fucking GULAG IN EL SALVADOR IS STILL ANTI CONSTITUTIONAL. It’s not wrong because he’s a nice guy, it’s wrong because due process is the cornerstone of the rule of law

Hey you know what I don't support permanent exile to a foreign death camp for criminals either.

A Guatemalan immigrant with no Massachusetts criminal record was arrested Monday on Tallman Street after federal agents shattered the glass on his vehicle as he and his wife waited inside the car for their lawyer to arrive. Read story and view full video: newbedfordlight.org/lawyer-feder...

MAGA idiots have been tricked into surrounding Tesla dealerships nationwide, their presence alone is deterring potential buyers and collapsing sales. Psyop successful 👏

Judge Xinis in Tuesday eve order homes in on key issue: "Abrego Garcia appears to remain inexplicably detained in CECOT." She cites text in written agreement with El Salvador showing US control: That detainees are kept in CECOT “pending the United States’ decision on their long-term disposition.”

When Andrew Tate was charged with rape and human trafficking, Trump intervened to fly him back to the US. When a working-class father of a disabled 5-year-old child was wrongfully deported and charged with NO crime, Trump refuses to lift a finger.

Something that is unique about this case, and the assumption I have that Miller is driving the bus here, is that they have decided to go all in on literally the worst possible case they have. The government has admitted they sent him to El Salvador in error. The Solicitor General said it.

I think every Dem should do interviews with the Bulwark because frankly they're the likeliest to ask interviewees whether they'll invade El Salvador

The White House is mad that there were no pro-racism people on a Sesame Street special.

So this is entirely separate from signalgate?!?!?!??!

It's genuinely hard to express to sort of normal not politically plugged in non-lawyers *how* lawless the Trump administration is, and I think that's some part of the problem. You sound like you're hyperventilating, but it's just a flat description of what is going on.

I keep reading and hearing that, while Trump's net favorability is negative, his approval ratings on immigration are positive. Thanks to @gelliottmorris.com for looking under the hood on this. Turns out Americans *really* don't like Trump's immigration policies.

This is one reason why Dems shouldn't hedge everything they say about immigration with a generic "illegal immigration is a serious problem" intro, it just feeds into Trump's framing. Pick specific bad Trump policies—there are many—and attack.

Good reporting here. Student paper gets what the bigs have missed. White House is actually threatening to defund all of bostons major hospitals www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

DOGE is a criminal conspiracy to defraud the people of the United States
