Personally, I feel like the national Democratic Party died with John Lewis. It was dying before that but he always made me feel like there was at least a moral compass. Party leadership keeps shutting down the Good Trouble from newcomers.

A new website created by about a dozen federal employees, called “We the Builders,” aims to be a secure outlet for government workers to share stories about how their workplaces are being impacted by DOGE, and a place to explain the real-world impact of its access to government tech systems.

On 22 February 1943, three young Germans, members of the White Rose Society -- Hans Scholl, Sophie Scholl, and Christoph Probst -- were guillotined by the Nazis for distributing leaflets speaking out against the crimes of the Third Reich. Their bravery, and their cause, will not be forgotten.

Our latest: The Resistance is alive and well and angry. Please consider reading and sharing. No paywall.

If you're represented by a Republican and you care about the post office, how about flyering outside your local post office. Tell folks about the administration's plan to dismantle USPS and tell them to contact their GOP reps. Include local telephone numbers on the fliers. bsky.app/profile/sylv...

The Dept. of Education is the result of a Reconstruction era policy meant to provide education for newly emancipated Black folks…everyone else just happened to benefit from it. The attack on the DOE is already anti-Black. It’s deep cut historical anti-Blackness.

This is an article that prefigures very accurately what we will be reading about American (and American based) scientists in about ten months. The collapse of the top scientific research network in the world. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

If members of Congress—like Rep. Grothman —are this clueless about what the man who is dismantling our government is saying and promising, they don’t deserve to keep their jobs! This woman is in his face, begging him to wake TF up—and he just walks off. Pathetic.

every time you see this shit ask yourself: what have you done - this week - to make stronger ties in your community? we're all going to need those ties

Heart-wrenching in the now, and hard to imagine how history ultimately will be kind to this behavior & its proponents

What the actual fuck? U.S. attorney Ed Martin is harassing a sitting congressman for having the audacity to say mean things about the world's richest man. I hope these are frivolous and amount to nothing, because if stuff like this becomes actionable it's next top totalitarian dystopia.

Gift link. A small unelected, secretive crew now has free access to sensitive private data of everyone. And Musk is already publicly targeting family members of judges who rule against the administration. If this isn’t ringing alarm bells, I don’t know what would. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/o...

Quite a moment when top military commanders are reacting to Elon's latest manic weekend email outburst as though it's a provocation from a rival state power

Side note. There are eight members of the joint chiefs. the chair is black. the CNO (navy) is a woman. the other six are white guys. chair and the cno got fired tonight.

I truly think people don’t realize how many universities and colleges — especially public ones — may shut down if restrictions on and withholding of federal funding persists for even one presidency We are facing the demolition of American higher education

Just a reminder that three months ago the Assad regime seemed like it had successfully drowned the revolution in blood and that counterrevolutionary violence was permanently victorious for decades to come

There has long been a consistent minimization of and even sneering at attention to the misogynistic aspect of fascism by the mostly white dudes who specialize in talking explicitly about extremism and fascism.

if you’re going to release “a framework detailing how the Democratic Party will fight against Trump’s war on working people” shouldn’t it have…actions? how do you write four pages and leave out any tangible action?

Not only do people hate someone who was right too early, the more important the question the more they hate it

reminding ya'll we need to make resistance FUN. play bops. line dance. bring the drag, the parties, and the bbq. make it an EVENT. show your JOY and have a blast while doing it. being on the writer's strike line in 2023, this was our saving grace. keeping your spirits up is more than half the game.

Looks like Trump has fired Gen CQ Brown, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff.

Thanks to a loud public outcry and a relentless media campaign from outdoors influencers the Trump administration is reversing its plan to eliminate thousands of national parks jobs. Amazing work everyone. Keep speaking up, it matters!

When M. Gessen and Bret Stephens are 95% in agreement, that seems worth paying attention to… www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/o...

The stuff they're doing is deeply unpopular and they're rapidly heading in that direction. Stop treating them like they're untouchable. We can fight back.

Ok, I'm doing a version of this thread for 🧪 who are new to political conditions where info security is a safety issue: 1. Don't make public lists of people who are engaging in acts of resistance 2. Be weary of calls to advertise acts of subversion 3. Don't live post resistance meetings

Hello, Blue Sky! For my first post, I wanted to wish everyone as much peace as a sleeping polar bear in summer time 💜

CSPAN Caller from West Virginia: I’m a diabetic and I’m on Medicare. When Biden was in there, my insulin was $6 for a 28 day supply. I just went to CVS, it went back up to $80…

Here's one of the warnings I gave in an article before the US election. It's devastating to see it all happening. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

the word ‘meritocracy’ is supposed to be a joke. the phrase ‘pulling yourself up by the bootstraps’ is supposed to be a joke. the ‘gilded age’ is supposed to be a joke.

The temptation is strong to dunk on GOP officeholders finally repudiating Trump at this late stage. But this is what we need if we're going to salvage American democracy. And lots of it.

Again: I don’t think the primary goal of the anti-D.E.I. authoritarianism we’re seeing is re-segregation. It’s TOTAL human enslavement to corporations. Re-segregation is just a stop on that train. Explicit white supremacy and patriarchy are being used to make techno-fascism seductive to the masses.

I just finished watching this a few minutes ago, and if you want renewed vision or clarity on the issues, watch and share this--it's really good. "We're experiencing the counter revolution without having had the full revolution" hit hard, as did points about tech oligarchs' abandonment of humanity.

I keep seeing people just do something they think maybe would be helpful and watching that snowball and it's just amazing. Don't wait for permission, don't wait to be invited. Pick something you think needs to happen and that you can do, and do that thing.

New: DOGE's spending has been secret. No longer. My colleagues have uncovered it. www.propublica.org/article/doge...

gravedigger of american democracy. a more malign influence than john c calhoun.

"“In the US, we appeal rulings we disagree with – we don’t ignore court orders or threaten judges with impeachment just because we don’t like the decision. This is a coup, plain and simple,” Arizona’s attorney general, Kris Mayes, said." www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Today's specific, micro-detailed order by Trump shows he's a servant of Silicon Valley techno-fascists. Trump's order targets just four agencies; one is the trust maintaining the Presidio, a national park in SF. The tech fascists want to seize this park for a "Freedom City" they would run. 1/

It's a good idea to get titer testing done while you can ↓ TDAP for example needs 10-year updates. Insurance should cover this (preventative) but best ask yours directly.

Howard Lutnick, Trump’s billionaire buddy turned commerce secretary, has confirmed that the administration was simply lying to MAGA supporters about not touching Social Security and Medicare.
