CALLING ALL HEXAM PEOPLE! I'll be at the Hexam Literary Festival next Sunday, chaired by the fabulous Vic Watson. We'll be talking crime, thrillers, historical mysteries and a lot more besides. Get your tickets here: www.hexhambookfestival.co.uk/event/abir-m...

Do it. Do it now!

So! HUNTED has been longlisted for the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year! It’s a book that speaks to all the dreadful stuff that’s happening right now- populism, polarisation, terrorism. If you enjoyed it, I’d love you to vote for it. Vote here: harrogatetheakstoncrimeaward.com

Go on, you know you want to!

The boys are back in town… New Wyndham and Banerjee - book 6 - out 13th November 2025

It's still a couple of days until official publication date, but some copies of "The Venetian Sanctuary" have already made it out into the wild! Many thanks to Blackwells in Edinburgh, that have it snuggled up near Donna Leon and @radiomukhers.bsky.social !

A Sunday Times Book of the Month. A Thriller of the Year in the Washington Post. A Waterstones Thriller of the Month. Currently up for Thriller of the Year at the British Book Awards. You can get it for 99p here: bit.ly/4chjsSE I'm crying.

@radiomukhers.bsky.social in conversation with Paul Burke? I’m there for that!

Trump administration mulls travel ban. Yet another thing from Hunted that looks like it's coming to pass. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

😮 Hunted has been been shortlisted for Crime & Thriller novel of the year at the British Book Awards! I’m in shock!

Next Tuesday folks, for the Glasgow @waterstones.bsky.social launch of THE FRIDAY GIRL (Pub @bwpublishing.bsky.social). Come along and don't let me celebrate on my own! (Also early reaction to the book has been lovely, so it's not just me saying it's gonnae be a good read!)

Doing edits on The Burning Grounds, the next Wyndham and Banerjee novel. My wonderful editor took issue with a passage involving double entry bookkeeping.

Worth a read: Economic growth, poverty reduction, optimism in the future. The political situation is a worry, but then it's pretty crap everywhere. India's reforms and growth are worth celebrating. www.economist.com/europe/2025/...

A terrible handicap. To lack curiosity is to be bored and frustrated and have a shit life.

An opportune time to remind you that Hunted is a thriller about the current state of the US where i fantasise about an assassination attempt on presidential candidates.

Happy paperback publication day to my mate @imranmahmood.bsky.social . This book is stellar. You need to read it.
