Today, I ruined a restaurant worker's"whole day" by saying "I'm so sorry, it seems like your machine is out of this syrup, so there is no flavor, could I please have a Dr. Pepper instead." To be honest, I feel incredibly powerful if I can do that, when I begin with an apology and end with please.
