Nevers is doing this very cool zine project that I can't wait to run at my table, and you should too! The Winter Door: a self contained ttrpg horror story www.kickstarter.com/projects/cof...

Through a conditioning whoopsie I did to myself, in my soul, I believe Muppet Treasure Island is a Christmas Movie.

Ugh why did I okay stickers as a ks add-on? Big kudos to artists out there with stickers as a part of their shops, because navigating the pricing, and minimum quantities, and options, and which ones are openly fascist is exhauuuusting. 😅

Look, I've been playing TTRPGs for 20 years, and if there is one thing I've learned, it's this: If you make an NPC pathetic, physically diminutive, and obviously NotHuman™️, players WILL adopt it. What "pathetic" means may vary by table, but the formula holds true. Give 'em a sad, scronchy monster.

I let a handful of students into another teacher's classroom. One of them I had in debate last quarter. He is an overall well-behaved kid, and very bright for a 9th grader, but LOVES conservatism. As I let them in, this lad turns to me and says, "This makes sense. You're probably an anarchist."

When I started gardening, it was because my grandma had always (with moderate success) gardened. Connie has a notorious black thumb. She famously overwatered a rainforest plant, underwatered a cactus, and froze a fir tree. It almost feels like she's trying to kill them? But she planted flowers.

From the rooftops

There has been an issue at the school where I teach wherein any number you put in for print copies gets squared? My colleague printed 169 copies of a nine page story, and because it now refuses to collate, and doesn't leave an endpage on double sided docs, most are goofed. Public education is fun!

Yesterday, I bought a new TTRPG. In design conversations for Idlewild, we often find ourselves trying to balance between the length of the book, usability, mechanics, and flavor. How much do we explain? What can we summarize? What can go in an appendix later? What can we cut out for space?

Sponsoring my school's TTRPG club is both the most fulfilling part of teaching and also the part most likely to get me fired. Recently a student introducing their character said "Uhh, my ideals are buff women, and my flaws are uhhh buff women." And like, same bestie. They're all so rad and weird.
