This rules for a lot of reasons, but especially because it dispels the myths that A.) old games were never political and B.) games like this are just stories, they aren't "about" anything. Should serve as a reminder to anyone writing about games why we should be close reading 'em.

The cool thing about Matsuno is that he really is interested in sociopolitical stuff like this. Tactics Ogre had similar inspiration. You see a lot of of the bigger players moving their chess pieces, and you see Joe Farmer suffer under the weight of systems he has no control over.
