Fascism, in my anime scene? Its more likely than you think. www.animenewsnetwork.com/answerman/20...

"I liked them before they went all political." Traditional saying, origin unknown, used to denote someone has never listened to a band before.

Craze (1974): a fairly tepid occult thriller with a surprisingly good cast. Jack Palance chews scenery and English accents, Michael Jayston has a 90-minute long breakdown, Diana Dors rocks it, and Chuku represents the British obsession with faux Africana. Enjoyable novelty, rather than "must watch"

"It'll all be over 2028" Oh, my sweet summer child. Firstly, you assume there will be an election in 2028. Secondly, this is generational damage being done. The last 100 years or more of progress are going to have to be relitigated and instructional statuses rebuilt.

The Barbarians (1987) is what happens when Conan The Barbarian gets remade by a D&D enthusiast. Far better than Deathstalker, with equal opportunity sexy for all tastes and a couple of fetishes, and almosr prefectly camp. Importantly, everyone is giving 100%, and we've had a box of Merlot, so: yay!!

I love the current interest in a remake of Threads (1984) as people going "it's perfect, don't change it" lose their minds when I remind them of the third act.

Tracker is proof that I'm addicted to crime procedurals. Its puzzles are at Murder, She Wrote levels, the main character has the emotional range of a Vileda Super Mop, and it has the pacing of an arrhythmic heart attack. And yet I still watch the bastard thing!

A true classic tonight: Classic Of Nuke'em High (1986), as picked by @pinkapplejam.bsky.social after she tried some Lidl Mocha Liqueur. Always more of Surf Nazis Must Die person myself, but it's a toss-up between this and Toxic Avenger for my Third favourite Troma movie. 1/2

Never Trust A Hippy!

Please note: he's belongs to one of those churches that's really looking forward to the Apocalypse and believes that the Gathering Of Israel is a key part of that, and that when the Apocalypse happens The Jews (TM) will be punished for what they did to Christ. Good Times!!

I did an RJ45 crimping! I haven't mucked around with cables like that in maybe 20 years, and it was £30 of kit followed by several hours of frustration that resulted in, at best, a passable result, when I could probably have ordered the exact length for a tenner. I feel ruddy marvellous.

The number of "calm, rational, evidence based logic" atheists who devote themselves to whatever bullshit impossible marketing-hyper vapourware product they see an advert about shows how deeply programmed faith is in people.

I work for a company that publishes books. Item one of our weekly newsletter is about how we're involved in legal action against Gen-AI for ripping off our stuff. Item two was about how us using Gen-AI is going to be brilliant. I wish they would make up their mind.

In many ways, Trump is simply doing what America has done for over 100 years with the breaks off and with his arms flailing out of the window.

I always love it when a muliti-billion pound entertainment gets announced and someone asks "can people afford tickets?" No one ever bothered to check. The developers just picked the place, designs, and prices out of a hat and put the money down based on vibes alone. As they are notorious for doing.

It's the financial end of year! Yay!! Time to discover what is the most inscrutable request an accounts payable team can come up with.

Now on my third email to the Conservative Party in my local area, asking them to stop putting flyers through my door. If they don't get the hint I'll have to put a sign up.

I just caught up on the latest bullshit from Her Who Should Just Bugger Off and... I mean, who the hell goes after the Asexuals? Really!? What the absolute fuck (or absence of it).

I feel seen, and so does my box of cables.

We have absolutely no idea how good we have it at this time. Which is useful. It drives us to do better. But, importantly, it means people think think how things are now is just the natural order.

How to bonsai 1. Find a tree you like 2. Keep it alive for a year 3. Try and wire it a bit 4. Keep it alive for a year 5. Return to 2. Everything else is garnish.

Myself and @pinkapplejam.bsky.social frequently have heated discussions about these two, because that's how you keep marriage exciting.

Because Nicolas Cage; Mandy (2016). Atmospheric and impressive. A horror drama with a 70s heavy metal sensibility.

30 minutes of gardening turned into 5 hours later, so I'm chilling out with Needful Things (1993). So far, so mid-tier Stephen King adaptation its filling the Stranger Things gap in my life. The Max von Sydow turns up; what's not to like? #horrorfilms #moviereviews

Technically speaking, Russell Brand has brightened up the day of everyone who thought he was giving off nonce vibes.

Obviously this will not be reported by mainstream media (which is at root responsible for this), a group of trans people were attacked for having a peaceful gathering in Manchester.

I'm quite happy with this bend. (Ignore the bite marks!) #bonsai

All things considered, Led Zeppelin did pretty well for a covers band.

I saw With Teeth tonight. They were rather splendid and I'm pretty sure that was a formative experience. withteeth.bandcamp.com/album/phanto...

Wut?

"Surely Nintendo can't expect people to pay these prices?" Ancient saying, origin and meaning unknown.
