IMHO, everyone is minimizing the explosive decomposition of America's foundations, much the same way they minimize the existential threat of climate change. I'd laugh if I could stop crying.

I think we should sell Florida. It's going to be underwater in the next century. Maybe we can find some fool who'd buy it. Like Russia. It'll be called North Cuba.

The trump administration is hurting the most vulnerable. It's deliberatly destroying alliances... leaving us all at risk. Satan himself would think them cruel.

Now is a good time to pick your battles. Fighting on too many fronts dilutes your resources, and the enemy knows how to take advantage of that.

Future breaking news: Court orders trump minion to fund x. Trump orders the same minion to cut x funding. Conundrum, as minion does not have immunity. I'm not sure what penalty the court would impose. Would it be worse than what trump would do to said minion? Stay tuned.

I am in shock. The motives behind this abandonment of civilization in favor of utter chaos is mystifying. Nobody benefits from this, not even the rich and powerful. Putin may think Russia will replace the US. But that's fantasy. Russia can't even build a reliable PC.

The rule of law

I don't know if this is news... but we're way outside the political arena. We are deep inside the survival arena. Perhaps we should acknowledge that. It's a whole new fight and will need entirely different tactics.

While Republicans want to increase work requirements for SNAP recipients, they fail to acknowledge that children (40%), the disabled (22%), and elderly (18%) are not good candidates for the workforce. And hey, 26% of recipients work. Do the math.

Trump has immunity. Not bound by law, he can and will do whatever he wants.

Trump has deployed active military to help round up migrants and put them into detention camps. The military forced us out of our homes at gunpoint in 1942 because we were considered possibly disloyal Americans. They sent us to internment camps for four years. History is repeating. Pay attention.

This isn't trump's America. It's ours. We should act like it. Maybe circle the wagons around our communities, metaphorically. Buy local, and be as self-sufficient as possible. Advocated community gardens. Learn basic self health care. Be good neighbors. Share.

Feeling outraged and scared is exhausting. But it doesn't do anything except feed more outrage and fear.

Things will not go back to normal, IMHO. Broken faith in the rule of law, politicians who put loyalty to a malicious narcissistic moron over the people they represent, and voters who vote for all that isn't something that will fix itself.

I think every actor who played POTUS would be a far better president than trump.

They worry about birthrates while leaving us defenseless against disease. Eugenics?

We're approaching climate change like a game of whack-a-mole. The engine that drives all those moles is the fossil fuel industry. End subsidies.

Next trump signs an executive order making him dictator and commander in chief of the world's largest military, but there's nobody who can do anything about it. He could declare war on the UK as Congress, the courts, and the press clutch pearls.

This is what people want? Well, there's this thing called consequences. I can see them coming, but they are too big and far away to see details. Lots of little ones are already here. Unreliable pharmacy services, fewer choices on store shelves, and businesses cutting back hours for lack of staff.

Insanity is not good for business.

I do not care about confirmation hearings. I do not care at all. America lost this bloodless war. We gave up without a fight. Any attempts to normalize the situation are to further disarm us. What they do when trump's cabal tries to do illegal stuff, that I'm interested in.

Our National Guard needs to be transformed into the National Emergency Response Force and trained accordingly. Mobilized in hours, not days, deployed where they're needed regardless of which state. NERF, motto being "They're there when you need them." Or some such.

I'm a believer in smart policy, but all the finger-pointing in the LA firestorm about hydrant flows and LAFD budgets seems like arguing about the adequacy of Hiroshima's 1945 building code standards. It's a way to evade the big questions.
