Chatted with Ralph below about power ratings, resume ratings and how everyone hated the BCS formula because it could only pick two teams, not because it was a formula.

www.nytimes.com/athletic/643... Everyone has a problem with the CFP selection committee. Can all (or any) of them be solved?

Kendrick Perkins and Stephen A are like if Charles Barkley wasn’t also funny.

Sunday Read: Momentum is growing for a single transfer portal window in football, and an official recommendation could come as soon as this week. When would it be? January or April? A majority favor January. More: www.nytimes.com/athletic/642...

Spaun and rain and Oakmont pain at the U.S. Open.

Holy shit!

Lotta golf writers started scrambling to lay down some words on MacIntyre in the last 45 minutes or so.

Waiting for Burns or Hatton to pull one of these

I know I haven’t been paying that close attention to the US Open, but it feels like MacIntyre just showed up at +3 out of nowhere.

Excuse me?

U.S. Open

Scheffler and ??? in a playoff.

Been so many crazy comebacks this NBA playoff that this by the Thunder hardly registers, but I’m pretty surprised they won that.

In-bound-the-ball-in-the-last-20-seconds challenge.

Mentally preparing for the first time for: NBA champion Indiana Pacers.

So Much Hockey

Been a lot of strategy changes in sports over the last 20 years that seem obvious now, but none more so than aggressively pulling the goalie with minutes still to go when your down.

When the Oilers lost that battle on the boards, you could feel it coming.

This series has been wild.

The eligibility lawsuits have produced a mix-bag of rulings. Even the ones that have produced positive outcomes for athletes have been pretty narrow. NCAA eligibility rules do not appear to be nearly as vulnerable as compensation rules.

If you gave Sheppard a red, white and blue ball you’d think it was 1975.

New Audible: @williamsjustin.bsky.social & @ralphdrussoath.bsky.social join me to discuss what the House Settlement means for college football; what the biggest concerns are with it; how it will work and what you really need to know about it: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

A follow-up from Judge Wilken on the House settlement: she intends to appoint Magistrate Judge Nathaniel Cousins as a special master to resolve any disputes with the settlement.

Takeaway from watching the entire Mets-Rockies games. Man, I miss living in Denver.

Good story CFB fans should read from @williamsjustin.bsky.social about NCAA revenue sharing abd the $40M football rosters, unintended consequences: www.nytimes.com/athletic/637...

Buckley rocked harder than most metal bands.

Sabalenka wearing every single point is wildly entertaining.

We had no idea just how popular Sophia was in 2006 until ours got to kindergarten and they were everywhere.

Here's the process of how NIL deals will be evaluated by the clearinghouse, and what happens if a deal is not approved. (There will probably be lawsuits)

I knew the best way to get Wilken to hand down the ruling was to take today off and instead of spending the evening updating Pacer, head over to Prospect Park to watch the New York Philharmonic. Because I'm classy like that. I really didn't want to stay until the end anyway.

From @theathletic.bsky.social: Schools will be allowed to pay college athletes directly for the first time, after a judge finalized a watershed legal settlement.

Meet MLB's lead investigator, a former assistant US attorney, who will lead the new College Sports Commission. With @evandrellich.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/athletic/640...

TNT is expected to gain TV rights for a College Football Playoff semifinal from 2026-28, @theathletic.bsky.social has learned. ESPN owns all the rights but has already licensed two first-round games to TNT through 2028 and two quarterfinals from 2026-28. Yahoo first reported.

A Knicks coaching search probably has more college football flavor than any in pro sports. Starts with: Make Spo say no! Make Hurley say no! Leads to fan protest outside MSG Ends with: It wasn’t Kidd’s idea to trade Luka.

I would have totally signed up for boring.

Uh oh, Musetti. The monster might be out of the cage.

Normally I’m all in on Alcaraz but today: Forza!!

Welp

Some voodoo sh*t by the Pacers is what this is.
