I totally agree with Dr Tran. If masks are banned, I will be confined to my home.

ICE, CBP agents seen in southern Los Angeles County

America if the news covered it like those countries Over There

How on earth can this country still hold the World Cup and Olympics next year??

Just like in the parks, safety comes first. - Stay with your group - Follow the signs (or in this case, the facts) - Leave no one behind - Document everything - Don’t engage alone

Suspected current admin was selecting awful deeds based on current month’s designation—Black History, Women’s History, Arab American Heritage, AANHPI Heritage. During each month, something relevant was cut. Now it’s Pride’s turn. Healthcare for trans youth was first. Have you noticed any?

HAPPY PRIDE y'all! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈 🖤🖤🖤

Emergency video! Ukraine has the cards

Nice evening light. Thought I’d share.

1. HRC has launched a more defiant protest tone for Pride this year. In their campaign announced today, "These Colors Don't Run," one feature went rather viral... the image of an Eagle with progress pride flag colors, painted nails, falsies, and a harness. Subscribe to support our journalism.

It was nice and the tide was among the lowest of the year, so I went to Golden Gardens Beach yesterday. Here’s a little bit of what I saw.

Long, but well worth the read. I think the line that struck me was “joint ventures between industry and the SS.” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_co...

I have a huge request for my readers: Trump's tax and spending bill will be moving through the Senate. Senators can invoke the Byrd Rule to try to remove the anti-trans Medicaid ban and EHB changes. You can find and call your senator here and ask them to do that. Please share as well.

The countdown is on, sapients: this Saturday, May 31, Escape Pod will be locking down the airlocks for the summer. If you've got any stories you'd like us to consider, please send them in before then, or hold on to them until September!

Small visitor eating an acorn.

There’s no way to ease into this news, so here it is. Today, I am announcing ConCurrent Seattle, a one-day SFFH con intended to be an alternative program to WorldCon, scheduled for Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the ACT Theatre in downtown Seattle at 700 Union Street, across from the Sheraton. 1/7

New drug seems to be helping. Feeling hopeful. Had enough energy to cut my hair! Feeling more like myself.

A few roses are beginning to bloom, along with lots of other flowers, at the Woodland Park Rose Garden. The garden gates close at dusk, so my vampire doesn’t hunt in the garden, but be cautious everywhere outside the garden at night. 🧛🏽

Short walk at Woodland Park. I miss my long afternoons spent in the woods. ME sucks away your previous life, leaving you with little reminders when you’re feeling up to it. Sorry. No energy left for Alt Text today.

If you’ve wondered why I’ve been so quiet, well, I don’t have the energy to do much besides survive. I have ME. I’ll need to lie down to recharge my battery for half an hour after creating this post. Not looking for sympathy, but I wanted you to know. #MEAwarenessDay #MillionsMissing

The light at the pond was soft and golden at Golden Gardens in Seattle this evening. Glad I went.

Went out to Discovery Park to walk, but ran into a young man who was sitting in the grass, contemplating life. I needed to walk, but also needed the human connection. When he offered, I joined him for a long conversation. Human connection for the win.

Another walk today—much shorter and with a long rest in the middle—at the Rose Garden (next to Woodland Park Zoo in N Seattle). Warmer and drier than expected. The roses are just beginning their annual show.

Tried out the new boots on a short walk at Shilshole Marina. Beautiful night for looking for sculptures on the breakwater and sealions on the docks. Easy enough to find by the constant arf arf arf. PS the boots are perfect.👌

I’ve been putting off buying new hiking boots for three years, opting to repeatedly patch the old ones with shoe goo. With the uncertainty of the future, and the new boots carrying a significant discount, I splurged. They feel really good on my feet. Suggested for recession/tariff preparations.

When we’re talking about American citizens, the word is “expel” or “expulse.” Citizens cannot be “deported.” As far as I know, there are no laws nor due process around expulsion. The current show runners are doing something the Founders never conceived of doing. Do any history or law experts know?

Language & framing matter & those who inaccurately describe this pandemic are preventing us from solving it, let alone preparing for the next one.

There's been inflation in the price of beef. You can't afford petty beef anymore. If trends continue, the average American will not even be able to afford personal grudges.
